Have an Osprey 45 2.0 on the clock even though I don't own anything with a larger diameter than 9mm. To me it just made the most sense in case I decide to get a 10mm or .45 some day - doubtful, but nice to know it would work. Agree that a pistol can is mostly a novelty/range toy. Not really...
If your friend decides on a T1X, I would budget for a better stock/chassis. The factory tupperware blows. Put a KRG Bravo on mine, it works well. Factory muzzle threading is nice, made it an easy decision to order a can.
I don't know if this is still a problem with recent production rifles...
Using QL presets they should be fairly close assuming a 24" barrel. Slight edge to N560 which appears to top out on load density before it tops out on pressure. N555 will work near the top end for pressure with a complete burn. If going shorter barrel, I would try N555.
China is a very complex country. People in the big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and others, generally have a much higher quality of life, better career opportunities and social benefits along with a higher social standing. People who are born in the sticks, and then later move to these larger...
I also have found VV's data very much hit or miss. To me it is, at best, 1 data point for consideration.
46.3 gr N555 with a 140 SMK ran 2850 fps in my 6.5x55 (24.6" barrel), which was a bit over 60000 psi per Quickload. Could have been higher pressure, can't say for sure as that was within...
I too might look hard at a 6.5 Creedmoor, preferably with 24" barrel to give a bit more speed. Had a .30-06 T3 Hunter about 15 years ago. It was a very accurate rifle but not much fun to shoot in a light package.
You didn't mention distances you expect to hunt, or if you hand load.
Sounds like you may have a short chamber. It would be interesting to see how your gunsmith's Go gauge measures on your comparator. Even then, I have been told that not all Go gauges have the same dimensions, brand to brand.
On the 'faster' burning end of the spectrum you can try H4350, N555 or RL16. Those are all temp stable. On the 'slower' end, try RL23, RL26 or H4831SC, which are also temp stable. Best velocity will probably be with RL26. You'll see a lot of recommendations for H4831SC for the best groups...
Glock trigger is like a VW Beetle, while a PPQ trigger is like a Porsche 911.
OP, you might want to visit a local shooting range and rent a 1911 just to see if it suits you before you jump into that rabbit hole. Some like them, some don't.
Also, field stripping and cleaning a 1911 is a pain...
I have a T3 and a T3X. The bolts on mine are interchangeable. I think the only real difference between a T3 and T3X is a wider ejection port on the T3X.
Loaded a batch of .45-70 using 24 grains of 2400. Half were loaded with 350 gr Berrys plated FN, and the other half with 405 gr Missouri Bullets Coated LFN. I've been looking for a use for 2400 since I didn't enjoy the giant fireball produced by my 3" .357 revolvers. Turns out this load in...
Best striker fired trigger I've tried is the Walther PPQ, hands down. Pretty sure they make one in .45.
I'll 2nd the 1911 recommendation, especially for a range gun.
