Oryx -- long term (?) strategy

How are those hunts? I'd love to figure out an oryx hunt that's maybe a little better odds of success than the worst public land NM ones [ie the ones I stand a chance to ever draw ] but still feels like a hunt -- ie not a high fence operation ideally or at least high fence with small area etc..

Final evidence that 300 win mag is enough gun

BTW, for fairness towards the author -- from what it sounds like in the story, he'd been trying to get into close range with a smaller gun for several days and couldn't ever close the distance to where he felt comfortable with the little gun without the dikdik spotting/windinf him, so eventually...

Final evidence that 300 win mag is enough gun

Yeah you don't want to run the risk of splashing on a scapula.

Final evidence that 300 win mag is enough gun

Of course that round reaches its limits once you go up to a midsized duiker https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_duiker

Only way to guarantee no tracking is to sever the animal in halves

    Parasite in elk meat?

I know we don't like even naming GMUs here but what general area of what state was this in ? 1. Want to know where fish and game are this reasonable ! 2. But maybe avoid putting in there anyway 🤔

    SuperCrew to SuperCab pickup

Never had a full cab but my 2007 F150 with supercab seats two adults just fine even for couple hour trips and three adults in both front and back for short trips. I can also put space efficient rear facing car seats in behind the passenger seat as long as the passenger isn't super tall and...

    Your brain on microplastics?

there are plenty of other studies that also link fluoride to IQ loss in children. We always knew that *very high* values of fluoride cause severe issues in children -- we have plenty of data from parts of the planet where well water has obscene amounts of fluoride. The unknown component was how...

    Economical Processing Machines?

i really enjoy the vevor horizontal sausage stuffer I got off aliexpress for 50% less than identical features (metal gear, #lbs capacity, etc) LEM / Weston branded ones. For grinder, I did go LEM because of the positive long-term input here, but I think I could have gone smaller than 3/4 hp --...

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

But aren't you rotating both hands in this example? I am thinking the barrel is round [= rotational symmetric] so it doesn't matter which direction you rotate a barrel (unless you add a left right diagonal movement but that's not canted rifle / something you can detect with a level!) As long as...

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

If I rotate the barrel inside the action, does that affect windage or elevation dialing? [Outside of the inate spin that a barrel puts a round on that may lead to left right drift, but that's something you take care of by zeroing ] Maybe I don't understand what is meant by a canted rifle

    Your brain on microplastics?

I love someone saying a couple IQ points are worth losing in order to prevent cavities. 1. It's completely unheard of in Europe to put fluoride into water and their teeth have fewer cavities than USA teeth 2. Cavities is a minor medical issue. Lower IQ is something that affects your entire...

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

I am still not sure I understand why. Let's say scope is level. Does canted rifle matter ? Can you explain why? I really don't understand why rotating the barrel would have an impact on POI (after zeroing etc )

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

One of my neighbors had been to sniper school and it sounded like he spent about 5h lying in tall grass for every bullet he got to shoot, .. at least in his telling, over 5 weeks he probably shot no more than five 20 round boxes of ammo. Which makes sense. The sniper skill set is about getting...

I am not sure it matters? If the scope is level then a mil left is a mil left ?

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

But let's distinguish here: 1. Scope 2. Barrel Let's say you are a funny guy and mount your scope on the side of the rifle but perfectly level to the ground. You zero it in. Now your scope is 90deg canted to the barrel. I bet you'd still dial and shoot correctly if you could somehow get into a...

Scope Leveling; Instruction that ran counter to everything I thought I knew

Can you explain why? The orientation of the rifle doesn't matter for changing POI with dialling unless I really misunderstand dialling... only the orientation of the reticle to the ground matters.

Tikka T3X Recoil Pad? Aftermarket (non CTR)

Limbsaver definitely achieved the claimed "40% felt recoil reduction". 7RM feels the same as my 6.5cm. Unfortunately out of stock right now (just tried to buy one for my other rifle )
