If you feel confident you know what you’re looking for, look at the classifieds on here and archerytalk. If you aren’t sure, it is probably worth the extra money to go to a bow shop and get a set up. Shops will be selling the 2020 models a little cheaper now as well.
I don’t look at Black Friday deals too much for bows, so somebody else might comment with more info there. In my opinion, right now is a really good time to get a bow. A lot of bow companie just released their 2022 models, so 2021 models are going at lower prices, and guys are selling their...
I use my Kuiu frame to carry my saddle platform and sticks. The suspension and waist belt itself does great, and is comfortable in my opinion. I’m sure the shoulder straps and suspension would work well for what you plan on doing, and least from the sounds of it.
I know it’s not required by law, but why chance it? Elk can’t see it, so I really don’t see any downside to wearing it. Not worth possibly getting shot over when an orange hat or vest might have prevented it.
Elk101 3 pack is a good buy in my opinion. All 3 reeds are a little different, and it will give you an idea of what fits your mouth and sounds good. Lot of people recommend Phelps as well. I just haven’t had any experience with them.
Ended up going with a lot of the suggestions here and marking off most of your suggestions as well. We got him a sleeping bag, sleeping pad and pillow, trekking poles, and merino socks. I bought a new pack for the hunt, so he’ll be using my other pack and frame. My brother has a zoleo set up for...
Innovative outdoorsman sells guides for sharpening replaceable blade broadheads using sandpaper. Probably one of the cheaper options out there.
Depends on what your budget is for broadheads. I like the grim reaper micro hades for an affordable fixed blade. Magnus is around that price as well...
Elknut app has a section for solo hunting tips. Elk101 does as well, a little more in depth I think. I would assume the elk collective does as well. Elkbros on YouTube talks about solo hunting some too. Plenty of options out there.
Not looking forward to going through that myself. Have a 3 year old and a 1 year old lab. Never understood the connection as I’d never had dogs before now, but they definitely become part of the family. Sorry for your loss.
I’ve been keeping my eyes on the classifieds. Just figured someone might have what I’m wanting and would reach out. Just trying to cover all bases essentially.
