    Best tripod for the money?

I was thinking the same thing for my binos. I have a Vortex High Country I'm not very impressed with. How was the pan head on the Summit ss-p? Do you have any experience with the Vanguard p111v to compare it to by chance?

    Best tripod for the money?

Not sure if you've pulled the trigger on the High Country but I'd pass. I use it with my Razor 50 mm spotter and it's just ok. The ball head didn't handle my Viper 65 mm well at all.

    Meopta Meopro HD binos

I'm thoroughly confused. The news release linked shows virtually the same price point as the Meostar B1? I can't find the new Meopro Hd for sale anywhere only the standard Meopro? I guess I don't understand the release of a bino that competes directly with your "flagship" line. That being...

Need some help poppin the ?

I can already picture her saying this. She lets me get away with spending a disturbing amount of money on hunting/gear...hopefully I've set the standard early on. Although we've known each other for 14 years, we're both turning 30 this year and were fortunate enough to build our careers and...

Haha! I tried to push the proposal off as far into Sunday as I could.... Knowing once the deed was done there wouldn't be anymore shed hunting/scouting done.

My thoughts on mid tier binos

I spent an hour or so at the Cabelas optics counter trying to pick out my next set of 10x42s. I'm no optics expert by any means and granted this was indoors, here are some of my thoughts. Cabelas Euro HDs: Edge to edge clarity was the most impressive of the group. I seemed to find focus very...

You know it is. It wasn't just a proposal trip. It was also a gear testing trip.... Took the new REI XT 85, the new Saloman Quest 4ds and a new sleeping pad. All performed great except for the Cabelas Ultralight Pad. Thanks for all the congrats!

    Hiking boot for flat feet?

Oh man. Doesn't sound like that's the route to travel. I believe he wears a 10.5. One of the areas we hog hunt is foxtail central.

She said yes! Since then I haven't even been able to glass for game or shed hunt. We've been rotating our phones on the charger as she has been racking up the minutes and FaceTime data usage calling every person she knows, may have known, could possibly be mutual friends of someone she saw at...

    Cabelas New Ultralight Sleeping Pad

It's being returned ASAP! The only positive thing I can say is that it held air. I've never heard anything squeak so much with even the slightest movement. I would have slept more soundly without it as I tend to shift positions frequently. That being said, I'm sold on a thick pad (the time...

    Cabelas New Ultralight Sleeping Pad

I just purchased this pad as my first inflatable at 1lb 4 oz, 20"x72", and 3.5" thick. Obviously at this weight the R value isn't much, in fact it's not even listed on the box. Does anyone have any experience with this pad? Assuming its only an R value of 1 I'm planning on cutting my Z lite...

I think I'll take you up on it. I was looking into Estes Park but it appears they may be a little more strict on dogs. I'd imagine I'd have more seclusion in the Medicine Bow NF?

Haha! You guys caught me! Thanks for the suggestions, the medicine bow range would be a shorter drive than most locations for sure. Someone brought up a good point in that she is surely going to want to call friends and family so if I want to stay on the mountain it will have to be in cell...

    latest unique trophy

I tell folks back east about how difficult public land pigs are and their response is always " I thought those were a huge problem, guys in TX shoot a dozen in a night." I hunted CA public land for 6 years before I put one down. You are a stud to have arrowed 3 in 2 years. Success at Sonoma...

Mechanical or fixed blades on Black Bear?

So very true. Only reason I found him was he was running over a bed of freshly dropped oak leaves probably 5 inches deep. Whenever he hit a steep spot he would slide down and leave a nice butt slide. He was dead within minutes but still went way too far.

Need some help poppin the ?

Well..... The time has come and I need y'all's help. My gf finally has a weekend off and were headed to either CO or WY (from NE). My plan is to take her "shed hunting" as we've done numerous times. I'm going to take one of my smaller elk sheds in my backpack along with a trail camera and...
