I have been using a Slik pro 340 (model?) and I have really enjoyed it. Fairly light, strong, and only $120. I went to a proshop in town the other day and checked out the vortex summit ss-p. That thing is sick. super light, super small, just not sure if it could stand up to my 80mm scope. Would love to have it for my binos though. I think he had it for $130.

I was thinking the same thing for my binos. I have a Vortex High Country I'm not very impressed with. How was the pan head on the Summit ss-p? Do you have any experience with the Vanguard p111v to compare it to by chance?

Who has a 700rc2 head and has used it in really cold weather ? It's spec operating lower limit is 14ºF (-10ºC). It's a fluid head so I wonder if it will freeze up or be damaged if it goes lower. It's a real possibility for me when I head for Montana to hunt elk in November.

I've been in a few below zero conditions with mine and never noticed any difference. besides myself shaking like a dog shitting a peach pit.
