Best state (lower 48) to own hunting land

If I was bound to one property it would'nt be in the "mountain west". Either south central TX or California. If opportunity was limited to the land you lived on then a moderate, transitional climate would be the ticket. I have a good friend with 1,100 in the "foothills" of CA and he has (with...

    10x42 on a tripod

I bought in to the tripod this year on my 10x42s and glassed up dozens of bucks that I would have otherwise overlooked. I recently went to a 12x 50 and I'm in love with glassing....I still haven't confirmed the distance from these two does but it's safe to say it's a very long way off. I would...

    Insuring Optics

I appreciate the responses. My brothers house has been broken into twice in the last week. Luckily we were hunting so he had his most valuable possessions with us.

    Insuring Optics

Which options exist for insurance and what are the limitations? I have read that several folks have "rider" policies on their homeowners but does this cover vehicle theft, base camp theft, damage etc?

    Bushnell's New Rangefinder

Very cool concept. That being said, I've been burned one too many times by Bushnell products. I hope they don't hold the exclusive rights.

    Visiting WA, OR, N CA.

If you want to wander off the beaten path my vote would be Usal beach in the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park of California. It's the jewel of the "Lost Coast" in my opinion and breathtaking doesn't begin to describe the views....from the 1000' sheer cliffs overlooking the Pacific to the...

    Best occupation for outdoorsman

Ok, I have to ask....no offense meant but why the immense pride in the lineman occupation? There are far more dangerous jobs out there (by nearly every measurable standard I've come across). I only ask because I have several friends who have recently decided to become lineman and their shirts...

    Best still hunting bino option..

That's the exact bino I had in mind. I'll likely trade or sell my 10x42 Conquest for them....the 17 ounces of the CL sure is appealing. I was afraid I'd hear that about the RF too. Anyone know how the quality stacks up between the Conquest and CL lines? I believe they offer a Conquest in the...

    Best still hunting bino option..

I have never looked through a pair of 8x30s but I can't help but think they would be ideal for picking your way through timber and brush with a bow in one hand. Would a pair of range finding compact optics would be ideal for still hunting?....is this even an option? I'd love to hear what you...

    Tripod for 15x Binos

I ended up sticking a Manfrotto 700 RC2 on top of my Vortex Summit SS. Love the Manfrotto but will likely upgrade the tripod to a Slik 624.

    Swarovski 12x50 or 15x56

My brother got his first Javelina and I glassed up my first herd of border hoppers. We also forget our game bags so a quick trip to Walmart for some fancy pillowcases did the trick.

    Tent- high winds capable

Just built my own dog bowl stove for my Mountain Shelter LT and my hunt in AZ last week. We reached temperatures in the 80s under the tarp when it was 23 outside......we did experience brief winds to maybe 25 mph and it held up well didnt experience anything stronger.

Awesome gesture! I'll take you up on it if you can find it. I know the adaptor you're talking about and I'd hate to drop $100+ for this hunt only as I'll be dropping the binos off at Outdoorsmans on my drive back through Phoenix.
