SO Cimarron or Kodiak Canvas for truck camp?

Looking to grab a flex bow for a November California hunt, solo 9-10 day trip. Am I crazy to go for the 6x8.5? My gut says to get a 10x10 basic or 9x8 deluxe for the standing height and added space for future hunts with a partner. However, the smaller tent is cheaper and in stock at Competitive...

Salewa Test fit impressions- Mtn Trainer, Rapace, Raven, Crow

Love the fit of Salewa's, wider toe box but narrow heel works great for me. I have both the alps trainer and the raven 3 as flexible/stiff options. I will say that the Raven is the only boot my feet have gotten cold in. Granted it is an uninsulated boot and I was in 6-12 inch deep snow for a...

    Swaro 8.5x42 or 10x42’s

    I prefer 8x over 10x if you have a spotter and/or 15s.

Who has a titanium action (magnum caliber?)

Pierce Shadow is another option comparable in weight to an Anti. Having a 30 nos built on one right now. Considered going Ti but with some of the steel actions available the weight savings isn’t always significant.

    Do you believe in ghosts

Up until this year, I would have said no. Now I’m a maybe, leaning towards a yes. I work in a correctional facility, often on graves. Quite a few people have died there over the years. I’ve seen and heard things I can’t explain. Shadows moving, voices, banging sounds etc. So at this point, yes I...

    .22 Creed / 88 ELD-M load data

I ran up to 42.5 gr of H4350 with no pressure signs. Shot well at both 42 and 42.5, didn’t chronograph. Using resized hornady 6 creed brass and the rifle has very long throat.

    Better scope rings out there?

I really like the APA rings, low, sleek, snag free and very high quality. Not that there’s anything wrong with NFs though.

    Uhhh...that's not hunting dude.

Not my life, not my time, not my money. I find the less I care about what others do the happier I am. Not something I’d be interested in, but it sounds like the guy had a fun trip. Good for him.

    Need Spotter Advice

I’ve had both the Kowa 66 and 88. Not exactly a fair comparison but everything about the 88 blows the 66 away. The fluorite glass, wide angle lens, and the size of the objective make it a significantly better optic, I’m sure the 77 is no different even without fluorite glass. I was not overly...

How much elevation can you comfortably cover in a day?

Looking at my OnX track, the most I’ve done is 3700ish in about 7.5 miles. Not fun but doable. I think starting elevation matters a lot. Going from 1k to 5k is significantly different than 8k-12k.

Youngest son wants to become a welder

Former welder, that’s all I’d ever done until January of this year from the day I graduated highschool in 2014. I went to school for it at the local JC part time while working full time in a welding shop. Got my certs and did everything from galvanized horse panels to sanitary stainless piping...

I need medium/big bore ideas please! UPDATE: BUILD COMPLETE!

I’ve had both a 338-06 and a whelen. My 338 is a Kimber Montana that JES bored out and cut down to 21 inches. All the mid bores are great, pick one and go for it.

    Barrel twist miss hap question

I can't imagine it would spin 168s apart at shorty 308 speeds, but clearly an error was made and I'd hope they'd make it right if that's the route you want to go.

    NV FCFS 2022

Missed a 194/196 deer archery tag. 141-145 archery deer has been on there quite a bit. Always been too slow for the antelope tags… missed one as I was typing this.
