cliff notes I got my custom barrel back at its 1-7 twist for .308. Am I screwed.

So I copied the hobbit rifle idea because it’s a fantastic idea. ‘I used MGM barrels to produce a .308 barrel thats 16.5” as it will alway be shot suppressed.
Now my concern. I asked for a 1 to 10 twist but in my notes I asked them to review my selection and make sure I choose the right twist and length. I never heard anything which is fine. Well I received and I looked and the barrel and it’s stamped 1 to 7 twist. I thought that was odd. After googling it suggested I shoot 240 grain bullet?

Am I screwed and or safe to shoot 168’s?
Pretty bummed as the barrel was close to $700.00
I’m going to reach out to MGM Monday but just curious on thoughts.

I can't imagine it would spin 168s apart at shorty 308 speeds, but clearly an error was made and I'd hope they'd make it right if that's the route you want to go.

You should be fine. I went 1 in 10 hoping the slower twist would give slightly higher velocity, however a faster twist should result in better BC.

I cannot remember why or where, but I think 1 in 6 is where you start seeing bullets come apart.

Unless MGM prefers you to return without shooting, I would give it a chance. They probably just followed what you asked and gave you what they believe is best for a short barreled 308.
