I have 12x50 EL’s on a tripod and the guys I guide and hunt with all have top of the line glass but when we see a critter way off the spotting scopes come out.
I had the 8.5x42EL for about 10 years sold them and bought the 12x50 EL. The EL’s are all great binos but I would take the10x42 and the 12x50 over the 8.5x42 if I didn’t have a good spotting scope but if you have a Swaro 65 spotter then I would go with the 8.5’s just because the the 65mm...
I say of the choices the .308 just because that’s what I have had on many hunts but the 30.06 at one time was probably the top caliber. All those will do the job. I was with a guy last year and he took a bull with his .270 at 400 yards killed it as good as my .338 win mag would.
Get a waterproof cover for your pack. Carry a small towel in a zip lock baggie and a dry pair of socks in a zip lock baggie. If it’s been raining all day that towel and dry socks will be worth their weight.
The best place to post an outfitter review, good or bad, is on….bowsite.com…. in their outfitter review section. It benefits a lot of guys trying to decide on an outfitter.
I see guys show up here from the east coast every year that drive straight through and a lot of them are wore out for the next two days from not sleeping, time zone change and the altitud. Seems like a good nights sleep in a motel and arrive fresh would be easier on a guy.
When you know it’s not safe to ride a horse up it so you start climbing, sweating hard, legs and lungs burning going through 6 foot high thick oak brush, pack is getting way too heavy, you think you see the top only to find out once you hit that spot you are nowhere near the top.
Milwaukee tools are great tools and that’s is what a lot of industrial contractors use, but all brands work. Keep an eye out for sales. I picked up a Milwaukee battery charger and two 18 volt batteries for &199 and you could have your pick of several tools at no charge. I took a 1/2 impact on...
If you value your vehicle do not leave it parked in ABQ if there is anything of value in it !! If you’re pulling a trailer they love them too. Car stealing capital of America.
Another Switchback XT…left handed here. Don’t know if it’s the best bow but I still have it, bought it new the year it came out and killed a good bull with it that September and have taken several more elk with it. I bought a Bow Tech Experience in 2013 and still shoot both of them.
Cooper ST Maxx 10 ply is what I have right now and theyve been good here in the rocky terrain. I had a set of BFG AT 2 on but wore those tires out way to fast for what I paid for them.
The reason I’m really interested in the 19X is my nieces husband is 15 years a Green Beret, still active and claims if he could only have one handgun it would be the 19X….old reliable every time, in every way after many thousands of rounds through his. He says there are prettier guns but...
I clean up my Lowe’s Tibet’s and seal them with Kenetrek boot wax once or twice a year. They have never leaked, I think I’ve had them going on 5 years. Only wear them when hunting or scouting. Great boots for this rough terrain here in NM.
I carry concealed all the time and I’ve got a few handguns for that purpose. I’m thinking of picking up a Glock 19X …..don’t need it, just want it…. Anyone have a 19x ? What’s your CC? I’m carrying a 9 mm Shield compact today.
I had a great hunting partner for a lot of years. We hunted, scouted and rode horses all over the wilderness. Seemed like every year one of us had some tags, archery, muzz or rifle or we’d go hunt coyotes.
A few years ago he had a accident up in the mountains and died up there. Hunting partners...
