How To Remove Loc-Tite Residue to Remount Scope?

I just take off the scope ring caps, or any piece that keeps you from running the screw the full length of the threaded mating surfaces, and run the screws in and out a few times until they turn easily. Then wipe off the now loosened debris, and degrease. I just want them turning without...

Barrel break in, does it matter?

Wrench, I see where you're coming from. And just for the record, I'm not willing to tell anyone that they shouldn't clean their gun, or that there aren't any possible advantages. I'm just sharing my experience. Something I wish would have been shared with me a long time ago. I really don't...

    I even switched bullets

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I bought my 223 to mimic my main larger gun and act as a trainer. Now it’s what I pick up 90% of the time, and being a super light is a big reason for that. For my use, I wouldn’t want it any heavier unless I were wanting to build a dedicated range toy or groundhog gun. And even then, I think...

    Brass quality question

I have two savage actions. One of them has very rarely had failures to extract, though I’ve never used hornady brass in that one. My other savage is as likely to “drop” the case as it is eject it. It has only seen Remington and Winchester brass. Very frustrating. I rarely grab my savages...

    Brass quality question

I’ve had good experiences with hornady. What do you mean by “drop?” Fail to eject?

    What bullet are you using?

Barrel break in, does it matter?

For anyone interested, another 800-1000 rounds. That’s over 4K without a patch. Edit: this is my factory tikka 233, not 6.5CM

    Maven RS.5 4-24x50mm SFP Field Evaluation Q&A

To be fair, I think it’s worth considering that the majority people who make up the scope companies might be living in the “reality” that most consumers live in. Until you test, and shoot under statistical constraints, how would you know? I’m not making excuses, simply not assuming that scope...

    Maven RS.5 4-24x50mm SFP Field Evaluation Q&A

I, personally, am looking forward to the video content. Big thanks to Form and Ryan. I know this is a lot of work.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Tikka 223 factory mags are about 2.300" internal. I do load the 77 TMK to that length with compressed powders like Varget in order to stuff more powder in the case.

Lightweight Backcountry 6.5 Creed Rifles Under $1000

Correct. Did it for straighter line recoil and a better shoulder/buttpad placement (my spine is a bit kyphotic). Results in less felt recoil and less muzzle rise in recoil. I started experimenting with it after enjoying how the gun handled in a KRG bravo chassis. I just removed the buttpad...

Lightweight Backcountry 6.5 Creed Rifles Under $1000

6x. I really don't think 6x is too little to center on any of the targets I shoot at (6" paper plates, 10" paper plates, 8" steel, 10" steel) out to that distance. the 9" paper plate I tacked up was more than big enough to center on at that range. Now, would 10x feel easier? I'd say yes...

Lightweight Backcountry 6.5 Creed Rifles Under $1000

This is a factory tikka in 6.5 CM. Stock has been bedded just like @Castle Rock, but is otherwise stock (unless paint, kydex, and tape counts) Mine likes RL-16 better than H4350.

    KRG Bravo Opinions

I think they're pretty sweet. I definitely shoot better with one, and handle recoil better. However, I've taken my factory tikka 6.5CM and put it back in the factory stock for lighter weight and smoother magazine/feeding function. That being said, I'm having a heavier tikka/bartlein build...

Managing recoil on a bench rest and shouldering a rifle

Totally understand if you're limited to shooting of a bench setup, but I find a bench setup really awkward. I can't find the pocket of my shoulder there either and find recoil more uncomfortable. If you have the option to get prone and straight behind the gun (which I found really awkward at...

Blue LocTite- Rings and Bases or No?

I ran the same bolt gun exclusively for my hunting/shooting for about 15 years. This gun was on its third barrel before I had the cash flow to allow me to purchase another center fire rifle and still actually shoot. It was a long action savage and I used a weaver rail on it. I can remember...
