Truth.
Just think if I'd only used one pair of ten round groups and drew a conclusion. I'd say you're onto something with the statistical nonsense, but you're only a sample of one.
I recently got a new barrel for a tikka action I had chambered in 223. The barrel shoots well, but when trying a new load that wasn’t compressed, I saw a bit larger SD/ES values than I was used to when using the same components in a different 223.
This got me wondering if a compressed charge...
Well. I don't put a ton of stock in my labradar's accuracy, but my compressed loads of varget seem to get smaller SD and ES values than my recent non-compressed loads in the new barrel. The extended throat on my new 223 barrel allows me to pack as much Varget in the case as I'm comfortable...
Sweet, that's a lot of rounds.
Rabbit trail: Have you seen barrels speed up compared to day one? I never kept the records to know on my limited samples.
162 rounds down the tube. No cleaning, no break-in. This is just one group, but it’s the best yet. I’ve got two other ten round groups with the same primer and powder. None have exceeded 0.7”
Yes. I would forget about the mounting plate and just drill new mounting holes in the buttpad. Maybe you need the strength that metal spacer allows for heavy recoiling guns, but I doubt it.
I know it seems hokie, but simply slapping a vertical grip module on a T3 and raising the buttpad makes it extremely functional for its weight. Both of these mods are completely reversible and cost practically nothing to try.
Agreed. This weekend, I mounted my 5-20 SWFA for the first time in a couple of years to test a new 223. Did zero and grouping at about 14-16 power and dropped it down to 8-12 for steel out to 630 yards for the same reasons. If the gun didn't weight 12 lbs, I would have been shooting at even...
Brand new 20” Bartlein 223 1:7.7 twist. Ran a patch through it before firing. Went through 55 rounds today, 45 of which were what I already had loaded for other guns, to see what it does. No break in today and I’ll try and keep good records to share in the future.
I prefer 9mm over .40/.45 cal.
Faster splits and better accuracy during timed and structured shooting stages. The gun doesn’t shoot faster or more accurately. I do.
