My dad and I had that tag a few years ago. We went DIY and ate our tags. Probably the funnest week of my life and I have zero regrets. My dad drew the early archery tag the following year and shot a nice bull at noon on opening day. I’d say go DIY unless you absolutely can’t stomach the idea of...
I drew a great elk tag the very first year I applied in NM. 7 years in a row now I've seen nothing but red, a lot of pretty decent odds tags were applied for in that time. Maybe next year.
I drove 6-1/2 hours last week on Friday to chase turkeys in South Dakota in an area I'd never been to. I parked the truck, walked 10 minutes and called. A gobbler immediately responded. I scurried over the crest of a hill and called again so he'd have to be in range before he could see where...
I got the Pfizer shot yesterday afternoon. I have absolutely no side effects, aside from a sore shoulder. It's very difficult to find a vaccination in the metro area here in Minnesota. Outstate they are looking for people to get it. I drove 4 hours each way to get mine and will gladly drive...
I've never taken advantage of these hunts and probably never would have, but I feel the pain for people who have done them for many years. It wasn't an outcome that was hard to predict. I'm starting to get on board with the idea that social media is the worst thing that has happened to...
I get my first dose, Pfizer, tomorrow. I've never been more excited to get a needle stuck in my arm. I'm headed to Florida with my family at the end of April and I really wanted significant protection before the trip, which I'll have. My wife has been fully vaccinated for a couple months now.
I’ve sprayed everything, including boots, socks, and underwear, for 15+ years. Haven’t had a tick attached to me since. No issues with boots or clothes. I mix up my own spray.
I had 3 family members get it. One had zero symptoms, one was almost hospitalized but survived. 4 months later he struggles to get through every day. By 2:00 every afternoon he is completely shot. He won't even apply for elk this year because he can barely walk across a jobsite, let alone up...
I used the 554, 8X slcs, and 15x slcs this past year. None were redundant. I didn't like the 554 and sold it as soon as I got home from my last hunt. The 664 is worth the extra weight, for me, and it put a big chunk of change back in my pocket.
There's no reason a NM Resident shouldn't be hunting for something every single year if they really want to.
There are a ton of elk tags I'd absolutely love to have as a NR that have >50% draw odds as a resident and there are plenty I'd be very happy with as a 3rd choice with 75%-100% draw odds...
