Tikka T3X Recoil Pad? Aftermarket (non CTR)

Swapped out the stock pads on both my Tikkas for limbsaver air tech. Very noticeable reduction in felt recoil. 30-06 and 7/08. Also installed vertical grips which feels more ergonomic.

Bear attack or homicide in Montana

I was also thinking” What if I’m wrong?, And I brandished or buried my knife in this dude for no reason other than he’s weird.. bingo, jail time. Bingo permanent record.. I just wanted to get to the KOA.

Bear attack or homicide in Montana

Undomesticated, seriously we want to hear the bow story!! I guess it’s confession time. This seems to be the time and place to come clean . I have a blowup hunting buddy, but I’ve never told anyone about her…er… I mean “it.”

Bear attack or homicide in Montana

Everyone wants to hear the story about why you almost had to shoot someone with a long bow…. C’mon…. Here’s mine: When I was 18 I was hitchhiking with my girlfriend in Montana. We get picked up by a guy who says he’ll take us to the KOA where we’re camped. He seems weird and kind of...

Dog wont eat dry food well

My opinion is that most kibble is absolute crap and is full of stuff that’s not normal or natural for a dog to eat. It’s just emblematic of how much trust they have in us that they will eat it. This is what we feed our old dog. It’s horribly expensive...

Did you forget your rifle in the Mendocino NF?

Yes… I forgot my rifle. I don’t have any documentation but here’s a description. It’s about 40-ish inches long and weighs somewhere between 5 and 15 lbs. On one end is a trapezoidal slab that you put against your shoulder, and it’s made of either wood or some kind of plastic if I recall...

Would you use this service? Sheep wagon or enclosed trailer camping on closed roads

If you want sheep that are pretty, they’re available but expensive! Ugly sheep are free if you can catch them…. I might be tempted to use this service if the areas involved are really good hunting. Otherwise, I pretty much stick to hunting areas where there are no roads. I usually pay for a...

How many of you keep a gun you will never use in the woods?

I have a 1963 Remington 700 in 30-06 that stays in the safe because it’s been supplanted by a pair of stainless Tikka T3x’s. One.30-06 and the other 7mm-08. I also have a browning 243 that I just use as a practice rifle.

    Narrow Mtn Road Etiquette

Just as a point of courtesy, on really dusty roads Both vehicles should slow down when passing to avoid choking the other one to death. Same goes with driving by a residence on a remote dusty road. Even if the roads are smooth and you can go 50 mph, you shouldn’t.

Time is up and I left him on the mountain.

Good on ya for respecting the unit boundary. Following the rules can be really hard sometimes, but nothing is worth trading your integrity.

    Tikka T3X Lite

I have a 30-06 T3x in stainless that weighs 7.5 lbs. with scope, strap, and a 5 round loaded magazine. I shoot hand loaded 165gr bullets mostly at about 2900 fps, but it’s also quite tolerable shooting 178ELDX. I replaced the factory pad with a limbsaver and that made it much more pleasant...

Remington 700 Fires When Bolt is Closed or Safety Released

I heartily agree with the statement. Guns are inherently dangerous, and it seems like a very bad idea to include an adjustment that would make a particular model more so. I have a 1963 R700. After the second slam fire discharged a loaded cartridge, I replaced the trigger with a Timney...

A Sad Sign of the Times...

I went to one a few years back with my niece and nephew, just to be a supportive uncle. Mostly just run of the mill black lights, shrieking, big furry spiders, guys with rubber axes. None of that alarmed me. But then we went in a room where they had a laser/ mirror ball making all kinds of...
