We have the 10x14 kodiak flexbow. It's pretty awesome. I can set it up in ~30 min solo. It's too hot for summer in TX though, it's an oven in direct sunlight, but thats probably any canvas tent here. I would get the model with the extra screens if I did it again.
One guy mentioned it's tight...
I don't know CO specifically, in TX the state leg has left millions of hunters $ (fund 9) unnappropriated in order to help "balance" the rest of the states budget. They liked just having a big pool of money sitting there not being used, just looks good on paper

Technically speaking there isn't enough private land in TX "that we can hunt". Haha. Im sure you are totally right in the rest of your statement...

I have no real skin in this game as a NR, butI enjoy the opportunity CO provides as my backup elk hunt plan every year, but agreed it is not very sustainable. I would also agree it needs to take care or residents first. Although it seems silly to get rid of otc archery and keep otc rifle...but I...
Yep just found it on page 4 of the book.
"Nonresident allocations may increase if licenses remain after all Colorado resident first choices have been drawn for that hunt code."

Question: If residents apps don't make up at least 75% of the first choice apps can NR go over the 25% ?
I would think the residents don't come close to 75% of the 1st apps in alot of the lower point (former otc) draws with alot of tags available, so if the remaining can go to NR I don't see...
Pressure moves around. All the easy draw/otc units are similar. You can always find unpressured areas if you move around enough. But that doesn't mean there won't be pressure in that spot the next week or next year. Elk are used to it

1st season can get very crowded, all hunters are squeezed into a 5 day season not spread out. but at least the elk had a 2 week rest before being chased again, and prob less non hunters later in the year. As soon as the first shots are fired they go back into hiding.
In the unit I hunt I've...

I'll add also that an elk tag alone is not related/connected to land access or recreation. It's a legal document that allows you to transfer ownership of a legally harvested wildlife resource from the public trust to an individual.

You have completely missed the point. You need to read up on US wildlife law, public trust doctrine. As many have said, wildlife is owned and managed for the residents of that state, period. Tax dollars and federal lands have absolutely zero to do with your privilege (not right) to take a...
I think you just need to re-frame your question to: "when e scoutin gennerally how far from roads and trails do you focus on.... " As others have said elk are where elk are. My general rule of thumb when e scouting a new area is ~0.5 miles from a very difficult /steep access point. ~1 mile if...
I put most of my gear (besides my tent and stuff I use daily) inside my 2- 150qt coolers in the bed. If I shoot something then i play tetris in the cab and stack stuff for the ride home. If someone is with me I usually have a hitch hauler and put a cooler & camp chairs on that. But the last...
Easily. I do it every year and sleep in the back with the tailgate down half the time. If it won't fit you are bringing too much stuff.
