    What did you sew today?

It’s amazing what heavy duty machines can sew through. My big machines will punch through crazy layers. For fun I sewed through over an inch of veg tan leather… Even my Juki dress machines with denim/leather needles sew through thick layers with webbing.

    What did you sew today?

I agree, if you are serious, get a good machine. You can find used machines for a good price online and locally. Hit me up if anyone is interested in a nice Juki machine, a nice cylinder arm Singer, or heavy duty table top machine. I picked some up at an auction and have a couple laying around...

What is "proper cheek weld" I'm getting different advice

One big part of the problem is rifle fitment and scope placement. When the rifle is set up correctly I don't have that problem with shooters. I can deal with my rifle fine in alternate positions without getting scope bit. Of course, that isn't with massive magnums...

Ultralight Scoped Action Armor starting at 1.2 ounces

We are excited to release our Ultralight Scoped Action Armor into production. It is available right now and on sale. Use Rokslide10 for an additional 10% off. We've had prototypes for the Ultralight Scoped Action Armor in the wild for a couple years. You may have heard Mark at EXO talk about...

Howa Short Action Bolt Swap Question

Consider the cost of the trigger as well. The newer have the nicer two stage trigger. Also, Preferred Barrels does really nice prefits for the Howa. I got one for my mini and it was money.

What is "proper cheek weld" I'm getting different advice

The head tilt and neck craning to get into position is one reason I have gone to higher rings. That reminds me, an often overlooked issue with "cheek weld" is the shooter has to push the head into an unnatural position. Whenever setting up a gun with someone from scratch, I always start with...

    22 ARC or 6ARC

The 22 with more velocity out of the same small cartridge and high BC bullets gets a little ballistic edge, but I think it is splitting hairs. I went with 22 out of my little BR case over 6mm. If I had a caliber minimum in AZ I would go 6 mm. There is going to be such a small difference in...

    What did you sew today?

Worked on these for a new product launch. Our Ultralight Scoped Action Armor. I started with my own projects too, now it’s a struggling little business! Good work on those @Bachto Lemme know if you want to do some contract sewing, lol, get your own little sweatshop going.”!

Bog bipod w/ ARCA or Pic QD mount?

I find an Arca attachment with a QD clamp to be very effective way of attachment. If you want a swivel, that could work. I favor ARCA attachment for the solid connection and ability to control it with my rifle. Like you said, treat it like a giant bipod attached to the rifle. I think you need...

What is "proper cheek weld" I'm getting different advice

No “weld” that gives the wrong idea. Like others, I lowered cheek pieces and raised scope. Now, I use a “jaw index” because any force on the stock is necessarily transmitted to the rifle upon recoil. You will hear all sorts of things. There is a technique that “traps” the stock between the...

Bog bipod w/ ARCA or Pic QD mount?

I did something like this. It’s easy to attach Arca clamps to stuff.

Howa Short Action Bolt Swap Question

If you headspace the barrel off the new bolt, that’s all you need. Check trading your rifle for a regular bolt face Howa, probably be less. There is a guy who sells complete Howa bolts in eBay I have bought. I was gonna do a switch barrel Howa, and had all the pieces, but never used the .223...

    To image stabilize or not?

I had the 16x sig, very cool and image stabilized is good for some hunts where you want to scan quick. I sold mine. I hoped they would work, but not for AZ glassing. Nothing beats the 15x Swaro, but the 18 Vortex UHD are close.

Trading rifles etiquette or general process

I just did this exact thing. Just make sure the person has good feedback and that you get lots of pics so you feel good about the rifle.

    Animal reaction after match bullet?

Thanks, that makes sense, if a fragment travels close enough to CNS. I can see it happening.

Ruger American vs Howa barreled action

Love the Howa mini for the small calibers. Trim the trigger spring and lightly sand the bolt body. I got the DIP bottom metal and rounded the mag release and shrunk it so it isn’t a problem for me and my hunting. I like the Stocky VG, but the Hunter version is nice too.
