    Big Bend Float Trip

I have done a small section. I would love to do Mariscal canyon. Be sure you have enough flow, I haven't been out there since the end of 2023, but the water was a trickle.

    Cargo Trailers

I bought a Cargo Craft trailer, I think they are GA based. My local dealer let me spec it out however I wanted. I had a beefier frame put in a heavier axle. I felt the build quality was adequate for my needs

    South Dakota Upland Hunt

I have hunted the opener since 2002, I might have missed a year or two in there. The quality varies year to year with some years being much better than others. Last year was a bit tougher, but it is always great to get out on the Plains the 3rd weekend of October. One of the highlights of my...

Tent Question - One tent or two, or?

I have the same Kodiak tent, when space is a premium I take my REI Base Camp 6. It is much smaller and lighter and still has plenty of room inside to stand and have cots.

Tent Question - One tent or two, or?

I think it is a personal preference. My base camp tent is big enough for cots and to stand up. I use a buddy heater and it is very comfortable. I use my Xmid 1 for backpacking. It is lightweight and easy setup and takedown. It works great for that use.

Texas, NM, Arizona Road Trip Suggestions

Big Bend State and National Park. The highway between them is the prettiest drive in Texas IMHO. Problem is your toy hauler is probably to big to take on that stretch. Black Gap WMA near the North entrance to BBNP has hunting, you will need a permit. They also have free camping last time I...

Yes, I have camped back there several times and never noticed anything too crazy. I never saw excessive trash, just the occasional idiot.

The feds recently shut down areas near Moab also, so I can't say they are doing a great job either.

    Where to get replacement poles?

I have used tent pole technologies for poles. You can also buy cheap aluminum ones off Ebay if you know the size and diameter. You may be able to find a member on here that has the tent and would be kind enough to measure their poles. Good luck.

Light weight base camp tent...fast setup?

I have an REI Base Camp 6, it is a great tent, but it takes awhile to properly setup with all the guy lines and staking required to ensure it will handle bad weather. My Kodiak 10x14 is much faster and no guy lines required. It will handle bad weather. I just a 18V impact drill and lag bolts...
