Are you saying just for the run to the airport? No way I'd leave a key taped to the case during travel, for many reasons.
I've always flown with a BEAST of an SKB case because I usually bring my bow, rifle, and stuff the case chock full of clothes, knives, etc. I've always just accepted the...
Yeah I'll be driving for sure and this is most likely how I will go about it. I've only ever hunted out of a base camp setup later in the year so this will be my first time packing in camp this late.
Curious for those of you who have way more experience with later season hunts when you decide to ditch your early/three season tent and bring say...a cimmaron or similar and a stove? Curious if you make a pre-trip gametime decision or bring the hot tent to be prepared for the worst? Planning a...
Used GPS map 64st. Used for one elk hunt, but just use my phone w/OnX now. Haven't used in 2 years, so no need to keep it. One small-ish scratch on the screen but otherwise in good shape. This has the pre-downloaded Garmin 100k topo maps. Looking for $260 $150 shipped Paypal FF or add 3%...
Like new Bushnell Legend L 8x42. Bought these shortly before my C1s and these have sat on the shelf ever since. Been in the field maybe 5 days total. Glass is in perfect shape, and for the money these binos are darn clear. Looking for $160 Paypal FF or add 3% for G&S. Has carrying case and...
This is one of the main situations where I don't see myself taking a spotter with.
At this point I'm leaning towards A) Keep my C1 10x42s (for now) and snag a pair of Zulu9 15x56s OR B) Sell the C1s, and go with a BX4 or BX5 in 12x50 and buy the Ares G2 15-45 spotter.
I should've added too, I've got a bead on a pair of Zulu 9 15x56s for $750-ish. Based on the "limited" reviews it seems like they compare very closely to the Maven B series.
Working towards upgrading my optics and need some advice on strategy moving forward. Currently use Maven C1 10x42 for most everything I do (archery elk, glassing deer, etc.) both free-hand and off tripod. Will mostly be using any upgraded/added optics for later (rifle) season mule deer and elk...
I've been a big fan of the Carlson Cremator chokes (both mid and long range) in my A300. They both pattern well, but I probably run the mid-range 90% of the time. The only time I really run the LR is for later season geese when they've been shot at for a month and a half already. I believe...
Mainly ebay, but my LGS will actually take in used reloading equipment on trade as well, which was nice as I could see stuff in person before purchasing.
What are you looking to get out of reloading? Hunting/target loads tailored to your rifle(s), volume, a bit of both?
Don't be afraid to keep an eye out for used equipment as well. That is how I got started in reloading and I purchased my Lee cast press, my RCBS 505 scale, and my Lyman case trimmer in used but good condition. I doubt new equipment would gain me anything in terms of accuracy (600 and in) in a...
There are very few friends of mine who I know are on the same page for a hunt in regards to expectations/strategy/effort/etc, and if they're not available or can't make a hunt work I'd rather go by myself then go with someone who may or may not share the same goals. Hunting by myself can helps...
Received my 3-15 this weekend (they actually sent two by mistake) and I don't believe I will have ANY issues in thick woods during first/last light. The thicker stadia at 3/9/12 o'clock really do a great job drawing your eye into the center of the reticle.
