I had to look that one up, pretty neat cartridge. Makes me think of a mini .375 h&h sort of. Not a bad option especially since it sounds easy enough to resize .30-06 brass for it and not having to hunt down something exotic.
I really like my .280 it’s a good all around caliber. .280ai would be even better for the extra bit of speed, but mostly because it’s getting popular again and a lot of companies are making the rifles and ammo.
I personally think that camo is for the hunter first and the animals don’t care. Earth tones, keep still and don’t stink too much. Maybe for waterfowl if you’re really into it or turkey but I’ve hunted both on occasion successfully without. I was actually thinking it’d be fun to try this years...
I don’t have one, but have fondled one a few times at the local shop. I thought it felt very much like my super vinci in regards to the balance and mounting. I’m not a shotgun expert by any means but before I bought the super vinci a few years ago I picked up as many shotguns as I could and that...
I got a pair of outdoor research tradecraft pants on sale for $90 at the heads up on here. I wore them for the first time this weekend because it was finally cold enough to try them out. They seemed awfully nice especially for the price. They compress pretty small and are light enough for my...
My wife sewed some Velcro to a square of blaze polar fleece, somehow it got lost. I usually have a regular red bandanna in my daypack for various uses, I will probably just get some orange ones next time. When I’m backpacking I have a small tech fabric towel that I usually take that has a loop...
I don’t wear vests a lot, but when I do I like my
fl corrugate. It’s comfortable warm and light and when things warm up I don’t feel like I have to get it off immediately.
I rarely use them, but elk hunting we got some weather that made them necessary and I used the leupold rubber bikini that came with the scope. Worked out great, I kept it on most of the time and then when I got close in on the stalk I popped the back off and let it hang so that when I was ready...
My .300 likes imr 4350 which is similar to h4350 and 180gr Barnes ttsx. I’m going to try hammer 180s when I get some time. I’ve heard good things about retumbo and I have a buddy who swears by h1000 so it’d be worth trying if what you have doesn’t do it. In my opinion I’d start with whatever...
I have several yeti coolers because I was able to get them at cost for awhile through a friend. They’re great and all, but another friend started buying rtic when the came out and they are 99% identical. If I needed another heavy duty cooler I’d just buy one of those.
I like being able to hose mud, blood etc out, haul lumber, firewood and not worry about the carpet. Depending on the model/year the floor might not be that flat and the seats might just fold forward and not come out making it not great for sleeping. Plus the shell can come off if you really need...
I had a sequoia and a tundra at different times. Both great vehicles and basically the same except for the back. In my opinion the tundra with a shell is more useful and usually cheaper. I wanted something smaller for wheeling so now I drive a tacoma, but I do miss the tundras power and room.
1987 Mazda b2200 2wd pickup. When I got it it had almost 200k miles, drove it problem free for a couple years, traded it for 1964 Chevy 4wd 1/2ton. My brother knew a guy who ended up with it a few years after I had it and it had 300k miles and was still going strong.
I’ve been using dexter Russell commercial fillet and butcher knives for awhile and like them. They’re reasonably priced, get sharp and are durable. They have several different types and and grades of knives and a few different steak knives, some are imported some are us made. I think the usa...
I had a pair of bx4 pro guides 10x42 and thought they were very nice, especially for the price. I sent an old pair of leupold binos in for warranty because something in the diopter adjuster broke and they sent me those as a big upgrade replacement because they didn’t have parts or the same bino...
Sand in plastic bags works pretty good, plus if you need to for whatever reason injury etc you can just dump it. I also would say in addition to all the normal cardio stuff getting acclimated is important. I try to get to altitude a few days prior and just hang out to avoid issues. More time...
They’re very flexible, so basically like thick moccasins. I don’t think feel would be an issue at all. I don’t know what the actual thickness is, but they’re probably in the middle range, if the rocks are particularly sharp I definitely walk lighter, I don’t think I’d go too light. They’re...
I never thought about it before this, but I use a pair of scuba diving booties for fishing off the rocks on the coast. I bought them used at the local dive shop that sells their old rental gear. They’re medium thick neoprene that go above the ankle with a thin rubber sole that has a little...
