IRS rides better but has more moving parts (expense and maintenance). I think the trade off is worth it in favor of IRS if you have the budget. They somewhat ride like a tank already so anything helps.

I remember reading from a guy who does depredation work noticed similar things with like kind Berger .284 vs .308 having substantial different bullet performance on game. I could see the same thing happening here.

I know with Turkeys the ladies want the TOM so shooting jakes *can* actually be more beneficial to the flock as opposed to shooting toms. Is that different from deer?
Yup. I get a lot of joy sharing it with friends, family, and even clients. Being from San Diego many of them do not come in contact with it much, so its pretty cool and good for us hunters as a whole, I imagine.
Texas or similar for pigs and whitetail does. Or any other high opportunity species/area where you can get lots of reps in.
I'd also pull the trigger on any and all of those options, the more you can get out the better.
It's interesting, I know guys who use the exact opposite logic. "If I am spending all this time and money, I damn sure ain't going home empty handed"
Personally, I am agnostic about the time and $ invested.
Sliding scale depending on meat in the freezer, time and tags left left to fill that fall.
I've never been a fan of "never pass on the first what you'd shoot on the last" because I will hammer a dink on the last day if my freezer is low.
