    Breech Plug help?

Which Powder do you plan to shoot? If BH then you really do not need much protection. I would put just abit of grease on the threads. OK back to the Lehigh plug... I have never seen or had one that would not seat with Teflon wrapped. I assume you are only using 1 wrap of tape... maybe this pic...

My New Knight Mountaineer in Nitrate Setup

A Day-Glo orange or even the day glow green just might do the trick! Might look at this link https://www.bing.com/search?q=day+glo+paint+for+gun+sights&form=ANNTH1&refig=8c229edaf62c4ac4ba1486e42e177165&sp=5&qs=SC&pq=day+glo+paints&sk=AS1SC3&sc=5-14&cvid=8c229edaf62c4ac4ba1486e42e177165

    White vs Knight

I would suggest to you, in Washington with the current regulations the fast twist Mountaineer 45 could be an outstanding rifle. Possibly the Ultra Lite 45 being the better choice for many. The DISC Extreme 50 cal. would also serve you very well. The DISC Extreme in 45 would not be the better...

My New Knight Mountaineer in Nitrate Setup

The only thing I did different was to change the red fiber for a green fiber. It provides a much better contrast. when the sight is on the target. Plus use a 6 O'clock hold on the target so the fiber doesn't cover the target spot.

My New Knight Mountaineer in Nitrate Setup

Bob, Which size front sight did you end up using? Another bullet you might look at as suggested above is the Bull Shop 400 LGP lead conical.

New Mountaineer in Nitrate 50 cal

Nothing really special about cleaning a Nitride and yes I would clean it well be fore shooting the first time. Bolt and breech cleaning with a Western is a little bit more of a chore than than 209 ignition. But it will be necessary. I really do not take the bolt apart and clean unless I have...

    Knight wolverine questions

That would be an easy decision for me, but I am totally biased because the rifles work so well for me. My first choice would be a ULite with, in your case 209 ignition, but there is a suggestion here also. Second choice would be the DISC Because you a in Washington you can take advantage...

    Knight wolverine questions

Good luck finding any 209 primers right now - especially at a reasonable price... The Wolverine is a great basic plunger action rifle. Accurate and easy to use. Using 209 ignition is not the best thing in the world just from a safety factor. The ULite is by far the better rifle and more...

    A new Lehigh Bullet(s) Choice

Well I failed. These bullets were both listed with a 1-14 twist rate. I was hopping that if I shot them with 120 gr. vol of T7 or BH I might get them to stabilize from a 1-28 Knight. Didn't really happen. So for shooting form a ML - I have to take them off my list. This first target shows the...

    A new Lehigh Bullet(s) Choice

Sharing a couple other thoughts discussed with Lehigh. One of my main concerns with the SP bullet is - at what velocity will the bullet CF function stop functioning. According to the Lehigh specs the SP bullet operates from 3200 fps to 1200 fps which at extend ranges could be a problem. My...

    A new Lehigh Bullet(s) Choice

A lot of you already know that I am really fond of the Lehigh CF bullets. So to add to that I offer this information. Last week I was doing some muzzle loading bullet investigation, looking at what might be available. I have always been fond of the Lehigh .458x300 gr. Lehigh then...

    Knight breech plug shimming

I really would suggest the W209 first. They are the longer of the two primers listed and have a better chance working from the factory. In any event they will require less shimming than the shorter Feds.

    Knight breech plug shimming

Yes, it really could be - but I would probably shoot it without any shims - will not hurt a thing other than it will get dirty. When you get ready to shim it for real MAKE SURE the the primer pocket is CLEAN. Which primers do you have???

    Knight breech plug shimming

Excellent purchase! Your rifle will come with a FPJ (Red Plastic Jacket Bolt). This can easily be converted to a bare primer setup using some Lehigh parts. You will need a Lehigh Primer adapter, bare primer breech plug and vent liners for the nose of the breech plug. Follow this link to get...

    Cheddite 209 primers

They shouldn't cause any abnormal erosion of the flash hole. Any primer is somewhat abusive on the flash hole but you see see the normal erosion with the Cheddite. It is a really good primer.

    Cheddite 209 primers

Just came across this online - Remember the Cheddite is a European primer, so it 's made to Metric Standards. Is Cheddite larger than Winchester primer? The Cheddite is a larger primer than the Winchester. This may cause the primer pocket to be expanded and in the future may cause you some fit...
