@robby denning and I lined up a rifle review for the upcoming season. Bergara sent their new-for-2023 B14 squared Crest rifle in a 6.5 PRC. It's a slick looking rifle...
I’ve owned and reviewed packs from most of the major players in the hunting market. Currently I own 2-3 each of Stone Glacier, Mystery Ranch, Sitka, Seek Outside, and Kifaru. All make a decent pack and do what is intended of them.
I’ve never used an Exo and am incredibly impressed. The new K4...
To the OP, I know you’re tired of instant and I can relate. Over the course of a season I make well over a hundred cups in the mountains. The convenience of the single serve packets are what keeps me using them. I try to mix as many different brands into my program so I don’t get burned out on...
I have two rifles sporting their barrels and both shoot great. Ryan Avery recommended I give them a try as he used them a lot without issue. Both of my McGowen barrels are from 2017. I have not kept track of the company in recent years and things may have changed.
I had my 8400 rebarreled and rechambered to a 6.5 SAUM a few years back. the barrel is a McGowen in a #4 contour. I could be wrong on the contour but it barely fits in the factory stock but it shoots great! The smith was Matt Whaley out of N. Idaho.
I saw that tent at the expo and will be giving it a review this spring. If I remember correctly the shelter may get a few minor tweaks before final production. I hope to put it to use this upcoming bear season.

Cinnabons will make you chubby…. I don’t recommend them. [emoji23]
As for your question on shelters, I’d recommend a Cimarron considering the addition of a German Shepherd to the group. That would make it a tight fit. If weight is absolutely critical in your choice, look at the light weight...
Fair point, but I do love the Cimarron. My criticisms in that review were small issues that surface when I am being ultra-critical. The is no perfect product and I need to find something to write about. 🤷♂️
[emoji23] You ask some hard questions…. The Guardian would work in that situation without any issues. But the Cimarron excels in the category of interior space and also allows for an up-size stove. Both will have plenty of area for gear but the Cimarron will have more headroom. And if you hate...
Here's the update:
The Mountain Laurel Designs, Ti Goat tarp, and Jimmy tarps Granite Mtn are all sold.
That leaves the Black Diamond Mid with carbon pole and floor. Somebody needs to take this off my hands.
I used the nest mostly in buggy conditions. Without it there was limited condensation. The most occurred with wet heavy snow storms but most of the fall weather was light to moderate levels.
