While I wait for a Rokstok Lite, I decided to put the sheep rifle in a traditional stock, rather than the HNT 26. The HNT 26 is certainly great for mountain hunting, but wanted to try something else for a while.
Enter the Paradigm Carbon stock.
This thing is sweet! It weighs 20 oz and has...
I used mine on my last week long sheep hunt. I was careful about going through brush. It did snag a few times, but I didn’t put any holes in it. Any snags, I just cut off carefully. I’ll continue to use it a ton.
Yep I’m going to send it. If the packaging didn’t say .223, and I was going off of ID clearance specs, I’d have no issue using it.
I’ll report back after doing some side by side comparisons with the standard 30 cal braked cap.
Out of curiosity, someone should measure a Hansohn cap that...
I don’t own any bore diameter rods. Could stick a cleaning rod through, but that’s not going to be very precise. The AB Raptor with that 6.5 (.300) works fine on this PVA barrel.
I just got in the .223 Ti end cap from SilencerCo to run on my Scythe. This is a standard cap with no brake.
This is a picture showing the clearance of a 6mm 112 Match Burner with the 223 cap.
Send it or no? haha
Edit to add actual measurements: ID of the 223 End Cap is .323, so a 243...
Steve,
I am similar to you in the fact that I run really warm, even in temps down to the teens. My favorite mid layer to wear in cooler temps is a naked Alpha Direct top, meaning no outer wind blocking layer. My favorite is the Farpointe Alpha Cruiser in 60 gsm weight. You might check them out...
@USMCret I’ve owned & killed sheep with a Kimber Adirondack, Barrett Fieldcraft and a custom Defiance/HNT 26. All were chambered in 6.5 CM. Out of all of those, I’d say the Fieldcraft is the most ideal sheep rifle. 6.9 lbs scoped with a NXS 2.5-10 and loaded.
The Kimber is lighter, but less...
Wow those look great, especially the further jumps. Wolfhunter pretty quiet on the 22 CM?
I ordered a .223 end cap for my Scythe to use on the 22 CM & 223, but would consider a Wolfhunter if there is as a significant difference. I’m pretty sure the Scythe will be perfectly adequate though.
