    looking for more xx75 shafts

😳 Yeah the autumn orange are as old school as I am. My first deer dropped over from aluminum poisoning in 1979 with an autumn orange shaft. I'll take any that are 29" or longer as long as they're straight. This reminds me of an old western I was watching a while back starring Randolf Scott. My...

need help on sizing for FL

So I've searched for awhile on previous threads and am about to go into the dead zone here. I'm thinking on trying out the First Lite Red Desert briefs and am looking for sizing help. From previous threads it looks like sizing on FL stuff is all over the board like all the rest of the good...

    What are you reading?

Another vote for "Undaunted Courage" and another is "The Morning River" and it's sequel. Can't remember the author as it's been awhile but they were great reading of the fur trade era.

    Form Problem

The first thing I think you should do is get hold of your riser. When you try to shoot with an open hand your natural reaction on release is to grab the bow so it doesn't fly out of your hand. If you're going to shoot like that use a sling or finger stalls and curl your three lower fingers up...

    Osceola Outfitters

Just got home from Florida and thought I'd plug Mike Tussey at Osceola Outfitters to any Roksliders that want to hunt this sub-specie of bird. They're not a talkative group at night in their lodge ( granted they were watching some ball game) but these guys WANT you to get a turkey. We were...

Anyone tried the Rhino skin base layers?

I've never used it but I bear hunted with a guy at a camp in Canada that had some. He bought it for misquitos and they ate him alive! He read the packaging later that week and it said, "...doesn't work for mosquitos." That was years ago though so maybe it does now. Permetheron on the pant cuffs...

    Oboz boots?

I appreciate all the info. Haven't been on the 'lectric box for a few days. My cousin/ hunting partner and I drove 21 hours to Florida to put the hurt on a couple of osceola turkeys and finish the slam. Man it's HOT down here...

    Alaska guide creations bino pack

I'm 6' and 210 with a 50+" chest. LOVE my FHF harness. It sets right under my pecs for a comfy fit. Just be sure and tell Paul you need longer straps when you order. I have no experience with the AGC but a lot of Roksliders like 'em! I don't think you can go wrong with either. Ordered my second...

    Oboz boots?

I was in REI yesterday scoping out lightweight boots for summer and came across a brand called Oboz. Sales guy said they're made outside of Bozeman hence the name. They looked really well made but didn't have my size to try on. Web search showed good reviews but those folks probably didn't try...

    Luggage recommendation for airline travel.

Don't know if it's too big for you but I've had good luck with a hard golf bag case from SKB. It has rollers, holds my bow with the top limb removed, arrows in a tube and lot's of clothes packed around my stuff. I've never slapped a golf ball in my life and bought one to use just for hunting...

    Ethical question - stickbow

I'm the newbie here and this thread has been a hoot for me! old guy lurker status is over! So I guess I'm in Elkhunter71's group as far as shooting goes. Archer for 40 years, truly "instinctive" and what some would call a "snap shooter". I call it "conditioned reflex". It's simply a learned...

Hi ... Glad to be here.

Glad to have you oldillini. I'm a west central Indiana boy myself. I've been hunting in the Rockies since the mid-eighties and quickly became an addict. You've joined the right place for info. Let me know if I can help you out.

    FNG from Indiana

Bear with me as I'm pretty much computer illiterate folks. I joined last September after a year or so of part time "lurker' status. I work as a self-employed carpenter/woodworker here and get to spend a ridiculous amount of time hunting/being in the west. I hunted CO the first time in '83 and...
