I'm sorry, but I think you're way off on this. The Skeletool specifically is an awesome tool to carry in place of a folding knife (it has a pocket clip and one hand opening blade). It's excellent when you're hunting with a lot of equipment (archery or quads). I have gutted and skinned game...
I find with Whitetail hunting I am rarely in a stand anymore. I am either walking so far back on public that lugging my stand for a sit or 2 is not practical or I am still hunting which I love. I tend to still hunt about 100-200 then sit for 20-30 minutes.
Down to about 25-30 degrees I will...
I was on the fence on the sawtooth for awhile but it's got a lot of nylon on it. I have been hunting in Merino for over a decade and absolutely love the qualities (mostly no sound and stink proof). I was hoping for full merino....
I have an older First Lite heavyweight shirt/jacket with full zip. It has one chest pocket but they put it on the right side! So a range finder in there when I'm going really light interferes with my rifle or crossbow.
Does anyone make a 240+ weight full zip top that has a left chest pocket...
Here is an image of it with a bit of weight in the bag. The straps are adjusted out as far as is comfortable, leaving the very bottoms of the shoulder straps at my nipples. I'm used to the load lifters on my backpacks being about parallel to the ground. This was how I was taught to fit a pack...
After some back and forth over email, they said they would honor the sales price on the Large frame if I called them! Now I'm happy! I'll report back on how the Large fits when it comes in.
I ordered a Kuiu Venture 2300 during their sale. The sizing guide stated the Medium was for people up to 5'10". I'm 5'8" exactly so I ordered the Medium. It arrived today and I have been trying it out and I think it's too small (short). I have to adjust the shoulder straps out quite a bit to...
I do find that in a tree with a bunch of stuff camp can be pretty important. When you think about the amount of things up there, solid colors can stand out, especially in the winter. Some non-hunting bags are OK but many have reflective bits on them that I suspect (but can't prove) that stand...
I have been for 2 years. A guy hunting near us slipped when gutting his deer and slashed his wrist. He lost a lot of blood fast and became delirious and started wandering around. A buddy found him and put a tourniquet on his arm and they airlifted him out of there. He would have died without the...
One thing I observed is that after wearing it 5 times or so it becomes much more puffy and warm and the wind shear material is much quieter. It's far quieter now than standard thin shell down coats that always swoosh when you move. I've noticed this with most Goretex fabrics.
I got this jacket last hunting season but it was never cold enough to wear it. I'm heavily invested in First Lite merino gear and that system works great down to about freezing or even lower if I'm moving all day, I realized last year I lacked a good puffy (I've been using an old 850 Down Stoic...
Looking for a Filson vest of the same size in green wool. May be interested in other vests (with pockets) of similar quality.
I love this vest but I have 2 very similar Filson vests.
Has a rear game pouch and 2 internal pockets not shown. Had a patch sewn onto the left breast and a small...
Thanks guys. Great points and I do hate blast more than most anything. After shooting rifles in the field for 30 years now I really appreciate the difference between standard and magnum cartridges.
The 6.5 CM seems to fit my needs well...
I'm looking to get a stainless rifle for out to 500 yards hunting whitetails and bringing out West for Mule deer and Pronghorn. Possibly elk.
I have a 600 yard shooting lane on my property in Michigan but will most likely set up down range a bit next year.
I'm considering both 6.5 Creedmoor...
