Questions on velvet rub timing 2023

3 days of hunting-looked at 14 bucks and only 1 was rubbed. Low country bucks.

    High Country Heartbreak

That sucks man, but it’s bound to happen if you hunt long enough. Did he travel uphill or downhill during those 500 yards? If uphill, it was probably a non-lethal hit. If you know of any water in his direction of travel, I’d give that a good once over. Gut shot deer prefer water. Definitely get...

    Possible move to Wyoming-Cheyenne

Would definitely not recommend the commute from Laramie to Cheyenne. Thankfully I don’t have to do it everyday, but know folks that have done it for years. If it’s not the snow, ice, wind, trucks and animals in the winter-it’s the construction, hail, wind, trucks and animals in the summer...

    Boot recommendations needed

Nebraska in November can be 70* or 0* sometimes both in the same week. You might to take this into consideration. I personally have 400 Crispi and they do pretty well for me until it gets down into the teens.

    Youth elk tag states?

I believe Colorado offers youth tags OTC for ages 12-17 for about $100 nonresident.

7mm-08 vs. 6.5 PRC for muleys

I put together a PRC last spring with intentions of stretching my max range out to 700 yards. Although the gun and my loads are more than capable of consistently performing, it’s just not really applicable for mature mule deer. My last 5 bucks have an average kill shot of 88 yards. Is it a great...

    Battery powered lanterns

I went through quite a few battery lanterns before spending a little more money on a solar. I’ve had pretty good luck with solar’s from Davis Tent.

    Early Rifle CO 2024?

The flattops deer herd took a substantial hit this past winter, overall tag numbers have been reduced to compensate for the losses. You might want to take this into consideration before you cash in 12 points. I’d be willing to bet the biologist for the area could probably shed some light on it...

    Who hunts alone?

I’m about 95% alone while scouting and hunting and I don’t really mind. I picked up a Zoleo last year and that seemed to give the wife some piece of mind.

Wyoming Region W Deer Herd Health

Go hunt and have fun. IMO there will probably be a few good bucks around for the next 3ish years. We’ll really see mature buck impacts in about 4 and 5 years from now. That’s when there is going to be a couple age classes missing from the landscape.

Chondroitin / Glucosamine , what brand works the best ?

This is what I did, I gave it 2 trials and seen exactly zero benefit. On the other hand, a guy at work says he noticed positive knee conditions after taking it and will never not take it again.

Anyone else that can’t road run?

I gave up running years ago because of the hurt it put on my body. Knees, hips, lower back up to my shoulders. I was in and out of the chiropractor way to often to get realigned. I would go through the best shoes I could buy in just a couple months. I’ve since switched to a box step and rucking...
