I'm extremely claustrophobic and I have no problem in a bivy. It's less restrictive than a sleeping bag. If you're worried about it, get a wide version. I switched to floorless a couple years ago and prefer it.

I agree completely. Personally, I have a hard time cutting up a several hundred dollar pack, but that's my opinion. Everyone has a right to do whatever they want with their own property, and if makes it more useful for their needs, have at it. I admire the guts it takes to do that.
