I spent a lot of time and money trying to shave ounces and grams off a T3x Superlite in 7mm Rem Mag... All I really gained was a little more recoil. I fluted bolt, changed bolt shroud, lightweight rings, etc etc etc... I probably only lost about 3oz total. Granted, a stock swap will probably...
Honestly don't see much issue legally or morally... If you think you can confidently harvest the buck after a good shoot... Go for it. Good luck and post pics!
A very nice elk indeed, but as a self-described noob... What exactly is a Governor's tag/Comissioner's tag? I've heard the term before and always just assumed it was quite literally tags reserved for high-ranking officials, wealthy individuals paying-to-play on high-end private units, etc...?
I actually just noticed the fire notification this evening as well. Pretty cool addition. I often open onX for various uses outside of hunting, before opening google maps or similar.
The scope tracks just fine actually, and today I ended up checking all torques and screws matched manufacturer specs from Hawkins Precision; 25in lbs on scope rings, 65in lbs on cross bolts.
That's crazy! I definitely haven't condemned the gun, I'll condemn myself before that, haha. I really...
I am indeed, probably a good 10min or so between groups, maybe more.
I hadn't considered this, but I did bed the rail properly with JB. The rail was installed after cerakote but I would imagine the bedding would solve any mis-match issues?
I actually have a 6.5 CM and I do respect the round...
I really appreciate all the input here. I'll start with a limb-saver and double check the free float, while being really careful about fundamentals and flinching.
To answer some questions; I don't "need" the 7mm RM any more than a 7mm-08 or something like a .280AI. This is a deer and elk gun...
Well sure, the recoil difference is night and day... I'm not getting any younger and after about 12rds with the 7lb 7mm I'm done for the day. Almost wish I had gone with the PRC instead, but the guys I usually hunt with sold me on the Rem Mag. One, two, or (hopefully not) 3 rounds in the field...
Wednesday the 12th was my first attempt at getting an Idaho Sawtooth B tag, and was lucky enough to get one before sellout. Should be hunting just West of Stanley, but have spent little time in 36... Any other B tag first timers? Good luck!
