Colorado Unit 31,32 outfitters or guides

@c00p successful hunt on the morning of day 5 in 31. Typical hunt - dealt with rain, sleet, snow, and then, a full moon for most of it. Pretty easy unit to get around, generally. CPW in Grand Junction was well informed on what gates were open / closed. Plenty of places to camp in 31. Feel...

    Toilet paper or wet wipes?

Cracked up at this, but it's a fair question. Keep the dude wipes in your sleeping bag - keeps them warm over night vs. pulling the icy wipes out of the pack for morning duty... of course, that advice works for the morning duty less so for the impromptu mid-day/mid-hike business

    Bear Recipes

Seriously, I've just heard all of the negatives about eating bear meat. Never tried it. I have a bear tag in my pocket for another hunt this fall and am glad to hear some of the bear recipes. Nice work on the thread @BabyT I'll keep watching for feedback from @Clarktar Good stuff.

Noted this channel (and date of post) and thought I'd reach out to hear how it went and what manner you hunted (DIY or guided). I'm hunting in there this year with a couple other guys. We are heading in DIY and on the fence about whether or not to basecamp or carry our tents and make tracks...

Danner Boots still a good brand?

I have a pair of Danner pronghorns (uninsulated) that have been on a couple of early season elk hunts and several flatland hunts. Lots of miles but discovered Zamberlans and I switched out. (y)

Welcome to PEAX—first review is live!

Nice. I've been using their headlamp as well. Love the durability of the lamp. Also, have been using their trekking poles. No complaints. Appreciate their products!

Looking for some new Bars/Mid day snacks to replace Clif bars. What's your fave?

I've enjoyed Honey Stingers but have heard a lot of good things on the Lara Bars, as well

Best backcountry coffee solution I have found, Jogo straw.

interesting - saw on an earlier thread one of the Roksliders suggested chocolate-covered espresso beans in order to avoid brewing in the morning when trying to get out on the hunt. Pretty great idea. Still something about getting that hot cup, though

What is your go-to ready-to-eat food in the field?

I'll echo on the Peak Biscuits-n-Gravy. I have tried several different kinds of pre-packaged items, but I keep coming back to the Peak Refuel. I field strip them for packing and I split some of them for breakfast and lunch.
