    Spain. General questions

My two cents... Try Riñones al Jerez (diced kidney in sherry and onion sauce), besides Rioja, Spain has excellent Brandy. Since its too difficult to bring back a great Eibar shotgun buy yourself a fine spanish pocketknife (navaja). Oh yeah, the tour of the Alcazar de Toledo and the history of...

    Badger fights to the death.

Funny story: years ago I was driving in Lincoln County NM, and I saw a beautiful roadkill badger on side of highway. I always wanted to have a Badger mountain man cap and a cleaned off skull so I pulled over and got out with my gloves, at first glance the badger looked fine n dead so I picked...

    New Mexico Unit 49 Update

Not unit 49 but last saturday I was driving on Hwy 40 from Gallup towards Albuquerque at 0500 and 2 pick-ups passed me on the 40 east bound and one had 2 great Elk racks in back and the other had 1 nice rack. I was very jealous. Good rains this year in SC NM.

    Giardia

I got Giardia in the mid 90s on a fishing trip to the High Sierras. I used to wash my face in the creek and rinse my hands in it. I thought that at 7000 ft that it was safe. As soon as I got home from mountains it hit me, "Muy Malo" for 5 days.

Most expensive thing you lost while hunting

I have lost sweater vests while hunting but I lost 2 Mauser Victorinox pocket knives in the same area of the Sierras a couple of years in a row. I think the long lanyard got got by branches while hiking and crossing creek and was pulled out of my pocket. Cant even describe how angry at myself...

My buddy and I are planning a Dove Hunt in Argentina as well, problem is actuating selecting an estancia since they all seem to be good or great. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad estancia down there. I am fluent in spanish and know the different cultures in South America so...

    Attacked by an Owl!

Similar story, 1976 or 77, I was a teenager hiking with a friend at night at 11000 ft looking for a campsite. A great horned owl came down and grazed my head and I felt it. I had a good old Stevens 16 ga, single barrel loaded with either 7.5 or 6 shot. That owl came back at me and silhouetted...

    How old is too old?

Im 63 and I chase quail and chukar at 4000ft behind my dog. I am feeling it now but I drive on, its those steep slopes wearing a vest with water for the dog and gear that wind me. I cant see me not upland hunting out west...

    Vacation ideas? Hawaii?

Maui: La Haina and kaanapali are full of restaurants and bars and are great places for first timers to the Island. Kauai is much slower and is more remote on the Princeville/Hanalei side of the island. The beaches won't be crazy packed and nightlife closes early after dinner. hiking...

Knives Being Banned Across the Pond

10 years ago, I was in Sydney Australia and I asked a AFP friend where I could buy an Aussie made knife because I collect knives. My AFP friend said that knives larger than a SAK were illegal in Australia and that no larger fixed blades were available. Let's not even talk about guns, he had to...
