Semiautomatic 20 gauges with a red dot and #9 TSS is definitely the way to go. There is no reason to launch 12 or 10 gauge payloads of 1.75-2.5 oz with TSS and smaller shot for turkeys. Get a light 24” barreled 20 gauge and don’t look back.
The .410’s and TSS do get the job done but quite...
How many rounds a year do you shoot? What’s the furthest you have ever shot something hunting and on a range?
The drop test include repetitive drops meant to simulate years of hunting in 15 minutes. It’s pretty clear you haven’t read any of that.
Last week at the range my turret set screw...
Out of curiosity what’s the furthest shot you have ever taken hunting and have ever taken at the range? How many rounds a year are you shooting through a rifle annually?
The ability to shoot eastern deer at short ranges does not require a great level of mechanical accuracy or shooting skill to...
Part of the problem with manufactures specifying torque is they are supplying a single component in an assembly and they have to assume weakest mating parts from other manufacturers of which they have no control over. Then the decision to add thread locker changes that value by 20% further...
The only real downside to loctite is that it can gum up threads that are unscrewed, not cleaned and reinstalled with more loctite. Loctite 242 is a one time use thing whereas Vibra-tite VC3 and some of the loctite tapes are designed for or at least are more tolerant of reuse.
Loctite will...
I’ve never broken a Talley ring but I have broken their screws before. I do think the (4) bolt mount on the xbolt is a good design to use a Talley mount.
My Xbolt has Talley mounts without issue but they are a well known failure point.
I wouldn’t mess with either. The 16x on those vipers just pushes all their flaws to the for front and since they aren’t FFP backing them off to 10x or 12x ruins the wind holds. I used my HST 4-16 at 8x a lot for that reason.
Those scopes have too much magnification for field use, the glass...
The pro hunter will have a little bit smaller grip and trigger reach than the EH1. The pro hunter is lighter and more streamlined than the EH1 overall and is a newer design with arca and pic rail built in.
At this point Wyoming Pronghorn hunts are a once every 3-5 year hunt for nonresidents with units that have fair amounts of public land.
I’ve done these hunts regularly for a decade and the landscape has changed drastically. Leftover tags from 2015 are now 3 point units. There is more interest...
Yes but for consumer goods that should be a 1-4% service call/rma rate of goods sold.
The reality is that nowhere near 96% of the bolt action rifles on the shelf at Scheels/Bass Pro/etc feed reliably.
I have a sneaking suspicion Legacy Sports International is sourcing stocks from Stocky’s in...
If I’m only glassing with binoculars there is no reason to pack a tripod weighing over 2 lbs and most of those tripods cost less than $500 with a lightweight head.
If spotting scopes or rifles are in the mix the minimum weight quickly doubles to 3.5-4.5 lbs and cost goes up as well.
I really...
My trust was certified 3/13 and being an impatient nerd I’ve been putting the silencer shop approvals data into a spreadsheet daily.
Of note the median wait time for trust has been falling at around 0.85/days per day over the last month, basically it’s gone from 150 day to 131 days in 3 weeks...
Holster capability would be a big downside. It’s not that you couldn’t get one but it would force you into the custom route with fewer companies versus a TLR-1 or Surefire X300 where they are widely supported lights.
I’d focus on a closed emitter red dot and forget about the laser.
