Just got back from NW and wish we’d have gone a week later. Ended up with a buddy putting a 150lb boar in the salt. They missed two other bigger bears due to a bad wind judgement and another rifle being 2.5 minutes off on windage. Saw very little sign but turned up all three bears at 4400’ just...
To me, DBM, 50mm objectives, and muzzle brakes don't jive with "pack rifle" intentions. I'd buy a Kimber 84L in .280ai and put the money savings into brass, powder, and bullets and wear the tube out shooting.
The climashield models don't seem to me to be any more waterproof than the regulars. I ditched the speed laces and put in regular cordage and have no problems with loosening anymore. If only I could get some XA Comp GTX with the speedcross sole I'd have nirvana.
After shooting a bunch of hogs and gators with a .40 I'd look elsewhere and fast. Penetration and killing power sucks. I'd shoot 230 ball out of my 1911 with much better results.
Congrats on the buck.
