Zulu6 line?

I am looking to get a pair of the zulu6 binoculars and after looking at the pros and the hdx in person I am leaning more towards the hdx (1st gen). Although I have questions and figured I’d post it here to get some feedback on whether I should go for the 12x42 or the 10x32 pair of Zulu6 hdx? I’m curious if people have compared them or what you guys think would be best. I like the FOV better on the 10x32 (as the zulu6 line struggles with this anyway) but am curious about function and good for glassing. I’ve never owned a pair of 10x and am curious for about how far are they good for glassing animals? Are they a good/bad/better replacement for a pair of 12x? I plan on having back up pair of binos if I did go with the 10x but any insight on these two options of the zulu6 line would be greatly appreciated

Ha no I’m not a bot.
All of your stuff was regarding the higher end magnification and I’ve heard/seen differences in the lower mag vs the 16 and higher. There isn’t much on the 12x42 and none that I’ve seen on the 10x32. I do appreciate your input though. You definitely leaned me away from the pros. Just looking for more opinions on the lower end magnification.

That being said I also had questions in my post regarding using 10x in hunting scenarios and if they are suitable for a replacing 12x. Just trying to find out what people like about it because I haven’t used 10x before.

I have the 16 x 42's and love them. That said, I think if I did over again I would probably get either the 10's or 12's because sometimes I find myself wishing I had less magnification.

I know there was a Hunt Backcountry podcast where those guys said they preferred the lower magnification Zulus.

Either way, they are fantastic binos and the image stabilization is absolutely amazing.

Check out post #39 on the linked page below. The 12s and 16s have the same FOV, but the 16s will have more AFOV because of the added magnification. I have the 16s and they’re great as a secondary set but there are almost no conditions I would ever use them alone because of the narrow FOV. If you’re looking for a standalone pair, probably the 10s, but the higher magnifications are great for quickly checking far off areas and objects off hand while using standard 8/10s on a tripod.

The 12x42s are what I have and the FOV is 3.8 deg vs the meostar 12x50 i have which is 5.3 deg. It’s noticeable obviously but I’ll still be using them a lot this year. A curious thing to me is the listed field of view. It would seem that the 16s have the same field of view as the 12s...

I carry the 10x32 zulu6 hdx and I have my 15yr old son carry the 16x42 zulu6 hdx. When we are out and about, I like the 10x32 for acquick glance at things, but I find myself asking my son to hand my the 16x a LOT. But we tend to hunt pretty big country.

I do like the form factor of the 10x32 more though. And the battery lasts a lot longer.
