ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

I’m likely not adding anything not mentioned above - but just my experience with the new ZT Trace scope. I shot it for a week at S2H. It is THE most useful reticle I’ve used. I’m a SWFA guy, but this is the way.

I used it on 3x up to 12x. I run a 10x Swfa quite a bit, but for whatever reason the ZT on 12x was fantastic. I shot steel targets out to 400 ish on 3x, shot in low light conditions, and between the reticle and glass I had more time to see my target vs guys shooting SWFAs or similar.

Eye relief is great, so much better than the maven.

Turrets are positive, easy to use and low profile. No random bumping like with the maven. It was simple to reset zero and get back to shooting, which is a gripe I have with my SWFAs.

It validated my purchase of two scopes, and I look forward to getting them in hand.
Are you talking aobut the THLR reticle?

I used the THLR reticle. The improved SWFA Milquad they offer would be good for a mk12 or something similar, but I don’t see a use for that reticle on a hunting gun when I can choose the THLR.
Why for an MK12 in particular?

6x and 3-9 were the most common on the rental guns.

Yes
Sorry, I missed that you already answered the question. I'm planning on preordering a scope tomorrow and was debating between the THLR and the RMG-H. I lean hard towards something more familiar like the RMG-H but I've been hearing good things about the THLR. The first time I moved away from a traditional reticle was when I bought an Primary Arms LPVO with the ACSS. Totally different application, and it was a second focal plane, but I don't love it.

The good news about the THLR is that it’s not a weird BDC. It’s a mil reticle, just simplified limited mil lines and a German reticle influence. And FFP.

I highly recommend the THLR. That’s a real advancement in killing technology as far as I am concerned.

For those still unfamiliar with the thlr reticle, I suggest checking out the podcast Cliff Gray did with the designer Thomas Haugland.

Very insightful for those who want to gain a technical understanding of the “why” behind the design.

Frankly to Q’s point, it’s the best hunting reticle evolution in an eternity, and maxes out practically for a FFP

Want to jump shoot whitetail in the east? Can do

Want to launch a long one out west? Can do that too

I'm somewhat patiently waiting for the first drop. Hopefully, it is early enough to take on a hunt scheduled for around the 20th of September. Plans are to put one on a 223, a 243 and a 7 PRC. The 7 PRC and 243 will go on elk hunts this fall.

I have new rails and rings to put on all the guns when the scopes show up. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they don't arrive in time as the 243 has a 3-15 SWFA gen 2 on it. The 7 PRC is currently outfitted with a VX5 HD in 3-15. Yes, it is likely the first to be replaced. And, yes they all have THLR reticles.

The more I hear about the scopes from the guys who have used them, the better I feel about the decision to jump in on the first drop.

Yeah. Once again I think I jumped the gun and made the wrong choice! Been watching vids about the THLR reticle and I think I’d like it more than the standard reticle that I ordered. Dammit!
