ya it has went down hill. I joined in 08 and back the it was a wealth of knowledge with people who were straight and to the point. It started to get big and every dink found it and went down hill . Still some old timers around that have good info but have to wade through the garbage100% truth.
And yet, I'm still going to say this: That thread legit made me grateful for our moderators and the rules & norms here.
I've seen more wisdom and value in cesspool roadside ditches of 3rd world $h*tholes after goat butchering and blowfly infestations, than I did in that damned SH thread. It was an abomination of behavior, and a pristine example of why most gun forums are just degenerate wastes of time.
We prefer being called a cult, over faithful follower.Despite the antics in RS threads that increase the page count to hundreds.... This is the best hunting/shooting forum I've found. All the methods and gear I've tried since joining and spending too much money have worked very well for me.
I abandoned my maven scope to purchase the S2H scope without hesitation. I have no worries that it won't at least equal the rs1.2. My use of that particular rifle and scope (rs1.2) for my hunts this year may not happen anyway. So if I don't have the S2H scope in hand by then, it probably doesn't matter.
Call me a faithful follower if you like, but I still test the items and methods I get from this forum and abandon it if I don't like it or it doesn't work for me.
If a group has and shares the collective knowledge required to hone in on the top 25-50 things that just flat work, all a guy needs is a reasonable IQ to be able to skip some of the painful experiences and disappointments and go to the good stuff.Despite the antics in RS threads that increase the page count to hundreds.... This is 100% why I am a member here. There is a good amount of quality knowledge and testing that goes on in hunting scenarios that mimic my own and it gives me a good place to start with gear if needed. If a group has and shares the collective knowledge required to hone in on the top 25-50 things that just flat work, all a guy needs is a reasonable IQ to be able to skip some of the painful experiences and disappointments and go to the good stuff.
It may appear cult like if everyone agrees on stuff. However, if there's certain scopes or rifles or bags that objectively work best, why wouldn't everyone agree?
We don't all need to be able to perform textbook drop tests to understand them, make purchases that align with them, and add our own testimony to the collective.
All people really need is to separate their ego from their gear choices, divorce their brand loyalty, and look at things objectively with the goal of ending up at the most reliable, functional gear available.
I think some of them were talking about a lack of a locking elevation turret, not a zero stop.Yep. Much easier to filter out the nonsense here. Good group, good mods, good site.
What the Hell were they talking about...no zero stop? It's right there on the brochure.![]()

Bunch of nerds arguing over a scope that hasn't even been released. It's amazing to me the attachment some guys get to things.

I don’t think there’s enough room there to fit on a long action.@Ryan Avery, @Formidilosus, could one of you give us the measurement between the red lines below? Thanks!

I come up with 5.68” with an enlarged photo of the scope, a piece of paper, a yardstick, and the calculator on my phone. I might need a full rail if I go with an undependable 700 clone.I don’t think there’s enough room there to fit on a long action.![]()

Rails just add another failure point to the system.I come up with 5.68” with an enlarged photo of the scope, a piece of paper, a yardstick, and the calculator on my phone. I might need a full rail if I go with an undependable 700 clone.
