Had my new 10x42s on an elk trip this week and it felt like the eye relief was challenging for me, especially in my left eye. I don’t wear glasses, so I had the extenders all the way out and still had to be extremely careful otherwise I’d get black in my sight picture. Maybe this has something to do with having monovision contacts with my left non-dominant eye corrected for reading? I did have a couple of more experienced guys check them out and they had no problems. FWIW I seemed to have zero or minimal similar issues with my Vortex 18x56 binos, which I believe have shorter eye relief.

Any thoughts?

hmmm... That is weird. I don't know what is going on with you, but I have some experience with the 10x42 SFs and did not have any issues like you are describing. When it came to eye placement they are actually the easiest 10s that I have ever used. Maybe it is a vision thing.

I fully expect it is me - both my hunting buddies tried them and thought they were the best glass they’ve used.
