2 scopes in discussion…

Zeiss v4 4-16x44 reticle 64i

Leica Amplus 6 3-18x44i reticle L-4W

Scope will be mounted on a Sako 85 Finnlight 30-06 shooting steel around 7-800yds and animals realistically out to 500yds.

What you picking and why?!

Haven't used the Zeiss, but my Amplus 6 has a massive field of view.
On 4 power I can see my small muzzle break on the end of my 24" barrel.
Illumination and glass are very good; elevation turret is good. The windage is only to zero, nothing more as there aren't any numbers on it.

I do like the simplicity of the L-4W over something like a Christmas tree.

I have only looked through the zeiss in person and I liked the eye box, really easy to get behind.

Does the Leica have a generous eye box/ eye relief?

I just put the Zeiss v4 4-16x44 on my 7mm, and put a box through the gun the other week. I really liked it! I thought the eye box relief was good, the turret on top, and windage was smooth. I haven't used/seen the Amplus, but have heard good things. I am guessing you wouldn't regret either, whichever you decide.

It's very good, but the eye relief does change very slightly from min to max power.
That's probably just because it's such a huge change from 2.5 to 15, not sure if this happens on the 3-18.

Lowlight, contrast and colors are its strengths.
No reliability issues so far, but no hard use. I won't be worried though, because mechanically it seems to be the exact same OEM scope as the Trijicon Tenmile.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I couldn’t go wrong with the Amplus
