Zeiss SFL 12x50 Tested and Reviewed

Anything new with these? Surprised they aren’t being talked about more.

Nothing new but after a full season behind the 12x I have been very impressed with them. Had them side by side with my buddies NL 12s and the two of us both agreed the NL’s were marginally better in most categories. The zeiss were brighter in lowlight and at the difference in price I was not upset that I was the one with the zeiss at the end of the day. If I was in the market I would buy them again and not think twice about it.

Wetzlar: Carl Zeiss Sports Optics will Fertigung einstellen

Die Produktion von Optiken für Jagd und Naturbeobachtung in Wetzlar steht absehbar vor dem Aus. Das kündigt die Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH an. Betroffen sind 70 Mitarbeiter.

They are done in Wetzler in 2026. I personally think they are done forever in sports optics. We will see though. They might still keep factories in America open. Or do the LOW thing using Schott Glass like others do.

The sporting side of zeiss got bought by another German investment company. We’ll see where it goes from here
