Can’t decide between a Zeiss conquest 4-16x44 or the 6-24x50. Will be for hunting out to 700 yards. For you guys running the 6-24 do you find the 6x a little much for close range when rolling through the timber? That’s the only thing holding me back on going to the 6-24 over the 4-16. What reticle are you guys using for hunting for low light?

I owned both and ended up selling the 6-24x50 because for me it was overkill, plus the ZMOA-1 reticle was too thick for my liking.
I had no issue shooting out to 750 yards with the 4-16x50 with the ZMOAi-1 reticle. The one "negative" is in low light in dark timber my daughter had trouble seeing the reticle but turning the light on resolved that.

IMO, the wider FOV of a 4x vs a 6x will serve you better than the power difference of 16x vs 24x. 16x should more than comfortably handle 700 yards and I's assume the majority of the shots taken will be under 400 yards

Brockel for me 6-24 is personally too much for a minimum and can be hard to track animals close just like you said. I have the 4-16x44 on my 300WinMag and I think out to 700 it is more than enough. I definitely like it and only have an Swaro Z3 which I prefer optically but to me the Zeiss V4 turrets are superior.

I'm getting a 4-16 so my vote goes to that as I've read similar comments about the FOV

I have both. Anything bigger than a prarie dog at 700 is in trouble.....and 4x is substantially more user friendly.

I have always liked higher magnification for long range so I would recommend the 6-24x50 if you want to shoot out to 700 yards.

What rifle are you mounting it to? I was going to mount mine to a Tikka 6.5CM. not sure if that makes a difference in what everyone suggests.

4-16. Most people over estimated what they need for shooting long distance. Think of it this way, 10 power at 700 yards is the equivalent to 70 yards with the naked eye. Most will shoot their bow to that with no magnification.

If your talking minute of dead elk at 700, 4-16 is going to suit you just fine.
