I have been wearing meindel alaska hunter from
Cabelas for years. Mainly because they are a stiff boot but still walkable. Also come in a wider width. Tried scarpa but to narrow. I'm looking for a mountain boot, stuff enough to side hill all day, crampon compatible, not super tall so it don't rub my calf but not so short that I loose support. Carrying 100-160lb packs outa the mountains is no time

I'm pretty partial to Zamberlan at this point, but, I don't wear any of the Alpine boots that are crampon compatable.
First, they are probably one of the best made boots I have ever worn. Some of the features that are attractive to me...
I have more room in the toes than My Han Wag Alaskan. That's huge for me. The heel is held in place very well and many of the models are re-soleable. I seem to wear out soles pretty fast...long before the uppers are done. However, I do have two pairs now and the soles on both are holding up very well.

I run the tofanes. Solid boot that will last a long time. The workmanship of these boots are outstanding. They're a shorter boot as well. Not sure if they are crampon compatible? Pretty spendy but worth it.

I'm in a similar boat, or boot. AK Hunters from Meindl/Cabelas are comfortable, but a little too sloppy in the heel for me on steep, technical terrain. Looking for something with a little width in the forefoot, but a serious heel cup to stop slippage. Step in crampon compatible too. Scarpa Wrangell? I like supportive too.

I've been using the Ibex GTX since late 2012. Have two pairs, one for backup all broken in. Great boot for me as I have narrow heals and I like stiff mountaineering boots. Finally found a combination of boot, insoles (Synergy) and socks (single pair mid cushion darn tough) that don't give me blisters. Its like winning the lottery!

I talked to zamberland, great people to chat with. Sounds like the ibex boot will fit the bill if my foot likes them. I have wider feet and scarpa don't fit me at all. Gonna go try some

I ran the Ibex for a bit last summer. It is an awesome, high quality boot, but man did it tear my heels up. I really wanted that boot to work.
