Youth stock for Tikka

Just got a .243 Win Tikka. Any recommendations for a youth stock? Would be for a 10 year old boy. Gun will also be used for a handful of his brothers and sisters when they get older.

Was thinking Ultradyne chassis with something like a FAB Defense Rapid Adjustable Precision Buttstock. But I’m totally open to suggestions.

Isn’t there only like an inch difference?
Yea, it’s not a massive difference, but it’s often times enough for a 10+ year old. It was enough of a difference that my son loved the feel of it at 10 (after a few range trips of shooting light recoiling full size stocks).

You could get one and it is isn’t short enough then cut it a bit shorter and add a pad on it, as was mentioned already.

If you cut the factory stock you can put the factory pad back on, the holes stay spaced the same into the stock.

You still need to add comb. That's more important than LOP.

I used folded paper towels and coban wrap thinking it would be an experiment to get the ball rolling and there has been no reason to jump thru hoops to change it to something more permanent yet.

My 6 year old uses a ton of comb height.

My 9 year old needs about 1.25"

Comb risers that you can screw into the stock are about $40 if you want something "real".

I used a Beartooth comb riser that might be a great option for some of you. It’s an easy install, and comes with a bunch of foam pieces so you can add and remove height from the comb. My buddy needed it on a Howa Superlight since the factory rail is insanely tall. On a Tikka cut down and the factory recoil pad put back on, the neoprene would mask the OD difference I think.

If the recoil isn’t bad, the Tikka T1x has a flat plastic butt plate that’ll save some LOP, I think I have a couple take offs here if you want to try.

that's what I did. cheap chassis like ultradyne/outlier and 6 position Magpul ctr with Mathews fab cheek riser and subrevetech bagrider. outlier with short handguard is 25 oz. if you wanted to save some with the XLR magnesium is lighter but more $$. Hogue also makes a cheap 1 oz vertical 15 degree grip

CTR buttstock with cheek riser is 12 oz. buffer tube 3 oz, bag rider is no more than an ounce so you are looking at 15/16 oz for the buttstock and a ton of adjustabilty. The Magpul ctr barely has any play too. I think I added the squishier Magpul buttpad too for the ctr stock (its not a huge upgrade) and I flipped the cheek riser so there no interference on the shortest lop setting. you can add a folder too but that adds 5 oz.

the tr2 buttstock is also is really nice (getting the buttpad above helps a ton with recoil management spotting shots) but its heavier, more expensive and adjustments are difficult if you want to go from adult to kid lop quickly.

I like your style, exactly what I had in mind. What folder did u go with?

What length handgaurd/what length barrel do you have in that pic? Def like the price/weight of the outlier.
that is an 18 inch PBB prefit and the shortest outlier 7.5in handguard. One issue though with the outlier though is the mag release lever is 3d printed that might bug some ppl. likely not as robust as the ultradyne or XLR mag releases. Outlier used to be even cheaper before they raised their prices but still the cheapest on the market.
