Youth hunt Ohio - suggestions?

Hey everyone. I went to Ohio for a wedding last September and was surprised how nice it was.

I started looking into taking my 12 year old son on a youth hunt. He has shot two deer before, but never gotten a buck. I have tons of hunting opportunities around me in Virginia, but unfortunately it is all archery-only and my son isn't into archery yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a decent hunting opportunity? It seems like the outfitter route isn't a great option, because most of those are like 5 day hunts for several thousand dollars.

Quite a bit of public land in the Sothern portion of the state.... Youth season falls in the rut and some really nice buck's are shot that weekend. Pressure isn't typically to bad since most folks put their kids on feeders/corn piles during the youth hunt.

I hunted in Wayne National Forest for decades. Big area and not that much pressure these days especially for youth season. Good place. Not too bad to walk in. We hunt at a farm in NW Ohio these days as we got old. But I always enjoyed my week every year hunting the big timber in Wayne. If you can find some recently logged off private with national forest around it you will likely do well. Ohio has youth hunts in management areas as well but I and not sure if non-residents can participate.
