Youth elk rifle/cartridge combo

Ive been hearing great things about the 6 creedmore. My lack of understanding just has me hesitant shooting a 100gr bullet at a bull elk. Not saying I have any facts to support that fear.
The sheer number of elk kills from 77gr± slugs in this should be informative. With a bit of spacer wrangling, her .223 Rem could easily do double duty as your training rifle...

Clearly have your bias. Sharing von Benedick just shows that.

To the OP- 6.5 creed and below. 6 cm/243 if you can get it. You can find some of the compact tikka stocks that are great for reducing LOP. Limbsaver pad and suppressor and I bet she’d do great.
I’ve got several tikkas and agree with you. I honestly was hoping to replace it with a quality aftermarket.

6.5 would not be on my list!

I would stick with .224 if legal. Just need to decide how fast you want factory ammo to go (.223/22arc/22 creed). If 6mm is required I’d go with that and not worry about it.

I have a daughter a year behind yours, she does better with an adjustable stock (chassis) vs traditional still. Having the adj cheek piece and short trigger reach helps the most!

Congrats on the tag, hope it is a quick successful hunt!

Great idea OP! 💡 take a .22 out on your daughters nice elk hunt. Im sure wounding and losing a magnificent bull will really encourage her to hunt!

How many big game animals have you shot with a 77TMK? Have you seen the wound channels they make?

I’m a huge Homer for the 7mm-08, but a 6.5 CM through the lungs is a dead elk.

FYI I’m a big hairy man but I still carry a flinch from my first big game rifle. Kudos to Dad for doing the right thing.

Tikka T3x compact 1-8 twist .243. Threaded with 5/8 inch
$749 with no tax at EuroOptic. Plenty of factory rounds and accessories.

Browning micro hunter rifle in 7mm-08 with 140 grain nosler accubonds or partition. The elk will take a dirt nap. The recoil on 7mm-08 is very mild, my daughter loves her browning rifle.

Do you have a minimum bullet diameter in the state where she drew

What chassis did you build on? Are you saying 6.5CM is in adequate or that those other calibers just have better killing ability?
