Your first shoulder mount

They're Rio's from south central Kansas. It was a 1 shot double so I figured I better do something neat with them. My buddy took this photo which I think turned out pretty cool View attachment 389637the Taxidermist was from Lusk, WY but I can't recall his business name.
That’s cool. And I hope you got a framed print of that picture! Both the picture and the mounts look like works of art.

I did a big 20x30 print and framed it with some old barn boards. It used to hang next to the turkeys, but I moved it to make room for the pedestal mount.

First buck I ever shot. I was probably 12 or 13 at the time. I’ve shot plenty more and plenty better but that was my first time hunting “by myself” on dads farm and it just holds kind of a special place.

Like many in here, I’ve gone the euro route for most all my animals. I did get this elk done a couple years ago as it was my first

First deer with bow. 1986 4x4. I retired the arrow also. Note the Kolpin head. I think they were .010 blade thickness.

Not technically my first mount since that was the half body black bear seen in the back, but the velvet caribou is my first shoulder mount.Caribou was shot on the north side of the Brooks almost 10 years ago. Interesting fact, the black bear was 21 years old when I shot him in upstate New York and I was only 22 at the time trying to get some hunting in between deployments.

Unfortunately I still don't have a place to hang this guy up but he's my one and only shoulder mount. I have a couple euros laying around as well. Hoping to buy a home this summer and actually be able to put stuff up on the walls without losing a security deposit.

31" free range auodad shot in far west Texas on the same hunt as Northpark.

I don't have a pic of the mount handy, but this was my biggest deer of my first deer hunting trip. Kodiak Island, 1993. My uncle mounted him for me.
I was in high school, went with a friend of my stepdad, did most of the hunting solo. Learned a ton, packed him out with the friend's 15 year old son from way too far from camp. We watched him breed a doe before I shot him. We bumped into a sow brown bear on the pack out. We had to take an unfamiliar route back to camp because the tide came in. Hell of a trip. I love looking at that buck.
