Exactly haha. Hard to be lightweight with 30” barrel, bipod, Gen 3 Razor, and TBAC 338 Ultra.

Thanks! Definitely not my go to rifle for every hunt. I think I’ll go with a less chunky rig this fall.

Look on the bright side….all you gotta do to get in elk shape is lug that heavy dude up and down the mountain.

Definitely a nice rig despite the pounds.

Not an elk in the picture, but my Alaska and elk rifle is a Rifles Inc LW 70 in 300 win mag with a Huskemaw 4-16x scope shooting 180gr Nosler E tips.

I was on the fence between my old trusty Ruger M77 7mm mag and my Tikka T3x 6.5CM. just based on shootability and where i drew my tag this year, I am going to put the 6.5 to the test.

Winchester Model 70 300 RUM. Proof Research 26" Barrel, Timney Trigger, McMillan Stock, Leupold VX-L 6.5-20 x 56 Varmint Hunter Reticle. 200gr Accubond at 3050fps.

It's a bit more to carry around but I haven't minded it so far. It shoots lights out for me and is what I trust the most in my gun safe.

The SRS hunters rail made for the Tikka. Bolted right up perfectly. Really like it

How do you like the 145LRX? I was debating between that and the 150TTSX for my 280AI, ended up opting for the extra weight

I'm very happy with it. I worked up some accurate loads easily enough and my bull last year went straight down at 436 yards with full penetration. Based on the exit wound, the bullet did expand (estimated impact velocity of ~2432 fps).

I was actually between the 145 lrx and 139 lrx, but wanted the additional mass as well. The 150 TTSX is a great bullet too. IMO monos, especially Barnes, need to be driven as fast as they can while staying within accuracy limits.

Just finished modding up a husky m98 in 9.3x62 that I will use this year. Bold trigger, barrel cut back to 20", new stock, vintage weaver k4. Looking forward to thumping elk with it.
