X Bolt speed 2 lightweight set up.

Anyone running this rifle in 308?

I’m looking to build a lightweight suppressed rifle under 3k.

I was thinking X Bolt Speed 2, in 308 with an 18 inch barrel. I really like the X bolts but they don’t seem to be as popular as the tikkas on this forum.

Maven CRS.1 3-12x40

Airlock Zero Gravity 30 Cal (when they become available)

I’m guessing this will be around 7.5lbs and just over $2700

Well, I had originally thought it was 6.1 lbs because it’s listed as so on a couple third party websites, however when I went on the Browning website it’s listed at 6lbs 10 ounces so that changes things.

Disregard my last, the one I was looking at on the website has a 22 inch barrel. I want the 18 inch which weighs 6lbs 2 ounces, plus a 14 ounce scope and an estimated 8 ounce suppressor would put me at 7 lbs 8 ounces.

For what it’s worth, the browning xbolts I have shot all did fantastic. It was only 3 different rifles from friends/family, but they all shot very well and felt like a nicely made rifle. Hope yours is the same!

I like the idea of a lightweight rifle, I’m looking for something maneuverable in tight brush and accurate out to 400 yards. I’m also on a budget that’s why I was considering the Maven CRS.1, it’s 14 ounces and 425 dollars. I have the Rs1.2 from them and it’s been great to me.

Mine would be similar use and I walk a lot. Will do some ammo tests to see what it likes.

let me know what you find, apples to oranges but my 7mm mag X bolt really likes accubonds.

I’ve been eyeballing the Marvin scopes as well as a light weight option. 4-16x44 is right at a pound. Not too shabby.

There’s the evaluation they did on here and it seems like a solid buy. I love my RS1.2 and I think I’m a Maven loyalist now. They also do a military/first responder discount.

I like the 3-12x40 option since it’s only 14 ounces and this will be a within 400 yards rifle for me.

Yeah I saw they were on one of my military discount sites. Price is pretty decent too.

I signed up for their pro program last year and I believe I got a 20% discount where the GOVX discount was only 10%. It may have changed since.

I have an X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR in 6.5 CM...so doesn't exactly answer your question caliber specific but the same rifle otherwise.

I have this set up with a Trijicon CredoHX 2.5-15x42 on a pic rail. No suppressor (yet) ... as equipped it is slightly top heavy and weighs 8.5 lbs. Its comfortable to carry, but likes to roll in my hand. At that weight its nice to shoot, and accurate. For the scope you describe I think your set up would be quite easy and comfortable to carry.

Most of my use in the past year was tree stand hunting in timber and swamp bottoms, as well as some hunting in what we call mountains here in Virginia. I made a point to carry it in hand and not slung just about all the time. The mountain hunts involved a fair amount of walking, and while not my favorite rifle to tote (i swapped between that and a Sauer 100 throughout the week) it was fine and really not an issue. Again, how you describe setting yours up i think it would be very comfortable/enjoyable to carry and very maneuverable for tight brush.
