I am kicking around putting a new barrel (Bartlein) on my 300 H&H X Bolt Stainless Stocker to get a little better accuracy. I am open to other barrels, but my research has led me to a Bartlein. Anyone have any experience in this project with a an XBolt or any opinion on this? I just can't get my rifle to get groups under 1" and I can shoot my other rifles at 1/2". My older Rem 700 H&H shot 1/2" all day, so I know the H&H can do it.

First off, I am a big fan of the Xbolts.
But a few different gunsmiths have told me that they do not like changing barrels on the xbolts, they seem to be harder to deal with. You may want to find a smith that will do the work for you first before you purchase the barrel.

Not exactly what you’re looking for but wanted to offer some hope. I found lots of accounts of browning a bolt rifles being nearly impossible to change the barrels on. So I went to my small town average gunsmith and he just smirked and said he loves that rumor and that a rebarreling browning isn’t anything to worry about. Sure enough the job went smooth as can be.

Where are you located? I shot my barrel out and my usual Smith won't touch it

Kevin Weaver in Colorado, he'll walk you thru the process of rebarreling a Browning, no harder or easier than anything else if the gunsmith is qualified.

I have removed a barrel from an action for a coworker with a relief cut on the forward face of the recoil lug, barrel screwed off easy enough, no heat or stress and a local shop rebarreled it.
