X-Bolt Magnum Warne Maxima bases

Trying out some different mounting options to mount a Nightforce ATACR to a Browning X-Bolt mountain pro 300 PRC. I have a set of Talleys that will work, but am also looking at Warne Maxima bases with NF rings. When I mount the Warne bases, the rear one is too long, so it either hangs off the back and the bolt can’t close, or I have to flip it around and have it cover part of the ejection port. Anyone else run into this issue? Thinking about cutting the back off a little to make it fit

Are you sure you got the right part number for your action length?

My personal opinion is that: NF eye relief is pretty tight- double check that you can even mount the scope appropriately with those before you order replacements/cut them.
Once you have it the way you like, Bond the pic to the gun.
I honesty would just get a beefier one piece rail though and bond it after it’s all set-up ; color be damned - the more robust and well manufactured rail the better

I run the Warne on my stalker 7mm mag. The mount is flush at the back.

Ya , right part number according to Warne, and I double checked to make sure I had correct placement rear vs. front as they are different .

I tried a rail first, at the end of the day it just felt like scope was a mile high and I just didn’t like where it sat. Luckily, I do have plenty of room with both the Talley and Warne/NF rings to get plenty of eye relief

Same part numbers for mine, same placement. I wonder if it is the difference in brownings long action vs their magnum action.

The opening of my action is about 3.300". The back section of the action where the bolt handle is 1.590"

I know those numbers are not all inclusive for location, but there easy to measure

Thanks for those measurements, my action 3.5 “ and the back section is 1.3 “. Just measured the M929 and it is real close to 1.5. So that is our difference

I will jump on the phone with Warne in the morning and see what they think about me cutting off 1/4 inch of the rear base, or if they have any other suggestions. I will post their response here just so it may help answer any questions for the next guy

Spoke with Warne today, they say the expected way to mount them is with the overhang going over the action. They also said it would be fine to cut it at the last slot if I preferred to have it not protrude over the action. Seems odd that they wouldn't make one to fit the magnum actions, but there you have it !

Thats an odd suggestion for them to say its fine to cut it, if you do put some paint on the cut or something.
I would install it and see if a round cycles out slow and fast without hitting it, and if not then run it forward as they suggest and not worry about it. It probably wont interfere and having an extra slot for setting eye relief isnt a bad thing.
