Looking to buy an X-Bolt mountain pro SPR in a 6.5 creedmoor. It comes with an 18” barrel and has a 1:7 twist rate. I was wondering if anyone owns one of these and what kind of speeds they were getting out of it ! Any info is greatly appreciated

I’ve got an X-Bolt 1 Speed SPR 18” 1/7 and got 2497fps with Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X.

That is about what I was expecting, around 2500. Are you shooting suppressed ? And how’s it group ?

I have the Max SPR. Shoots very well. Most every load i've worked up has seen 1/2-3/4" groups. Shot factory 143gr Norma Golden Target ~2450fps with consistent sub 1.0" groups. That stuff is somewhat slow but surprisingly accurate.

The spicy sauce is 100gr ELD-VT with StaBall 6.5. I saw over 3100fps near max load without pressure signs. Didn't do too much load dev on the heavies, but at sticky bolt, I was seeing 147gr ELD-M's over 2600 with StaBall 6.5. I would probably back off to mid 2500's with that powder. The 129gr ABLR's went up to ~2750 with H4350. Tried 127gr LRX once with H4350 and I think I shot it with a bent firing pin after something spicy, so I stopped early (2600fps) and never revisited. Could probably get those in the mid-upper 2700's. On my 20" SA Redline, the LRX goes a little quicker than the ABLR at the same powder load.

Overall, great rifle. Shot suppressed with a Hybrid 46M and she was very enjoyable. I'd shoot it more if I didn't have two other rifles that require my attention :)

Yes suppressed. First nice bolt action for me, but easily groups 1.5” for 10 rounds. I’d love to sell it and move to a tikka with all the Mr potato head parts/accessories but it shoots too well to part with. Shoot as fast as I want and no change in accuracy until mirage starts.

Thanks guys , I was a little worried about the speed on such a short barrel, and was curious about the 7 twist since 8 seems to be the norm for the 6.5. But seems like browning put that 7 twist on a few different rifles with no issues.

Thanks everyone for the input ! I ended up going with the 22” barrel. I figured I can always cut it down if it feels too long, pretty tough to make it grow longer if I went with an 18” and didn’t like it 😉

Report back how you like it. I'm strongly considering an X-Bolt 2 as I don't want to tinker.

Will do, scope rings and mcarbo spring kit will be here Tuesday. I do have the same gun in a 300 PRC (mt pro Spr), and that thing is a tack driver. After over researching everything before I bought the 300, the conclusion I came to was buy a browning if you want to buy it and shoot it, buy a tikka if you want to tinker with it and modify it. Opinions may differ on that, but that is why I came to

That's what lead me to what will be almost 95% certain going with Browning. I've handle both, the Tikka was nice shouldered well and of course that action but the X-Bolt just felt more solid was it better not necessarily the stock just felt right as far as quality. Plus the recoil pad is leaps and bounds better in the X-bolt I just want to shoot and T3x is going to lead me down an expensive rabbit hole I can't afford right now. I know this is pretty much a Tikka forum but I've never heard anyone run down a X-bolt on here.
