My GF drew a cow tag for unit 94, October ??to November ??(I can’t remember the dates off the top of my head) I’ve found a little bit of info on this unit doing some online research/google earthing, I’ve yet to sit down and get super deep in the research yet.

Just wondering if Anybody have any particular areas to jump off from? Or a heads up on potential weather/access issues.

We are in the very early stages of planning this trip, we haven’t even nailed down the dates we will be able to go, but I figured I better get started and try to find some info out.

We had a lot of fun. Winter Weather kept us away from a few spots I was hoping to get to. I reccomend chains for all 4 if going later on in the season. I called a couple biologist and got pointed in the right direction.

We were in elk a few times. Never made it happen for her though, Still a lot of fun and saw some amazing country.

Made us wanna pick up and move there .

Older post, but would like to piggie back off OP. We are planning on a late cow elk hunt in 94 first week of November around 6th thru 15th. I’m interested in the weather itself. We want to setup a base camp and head out from there. I’m sure snow will be around, but what the normal amount? I would think snow chains on vehicle but plan to bring a quad and motorcycles for travel. Any info on weather and temperature as would think it changes a lot, but an idea would be nice. Thanks

It can still be pretty warm in early November. You really need to be prepared for a wide range of possible conditions from below zero up to almost 70F. I hunted a neighboring unit last year that same week in November and it was unseasonably warm which meant that any snow that came down quickly turned into mud. Other years in that same area just a few weeks later in November I have seen lots of snow and temperatures around -10F.
You can get somewhat of an idea for weather by comparing historical imagery in OnX and watching how frequently snow appears and disappears in those images from October through December. You can also check historical weather data from nearby monitoring stations to see what typical weather patterns are.
