Some folks in Wyoming sure seem to like the idea of restricting non-residents from outdoor pursuits.
I’m curious what activity they will think of next to try and restrict non-residents on. Maybe fishing, residents get first cast in every hole each morning, or skiing, residents get the first 2 hours on days with fresh powder.

So, so dumb. I’m good with closures to land for wintering stuff. Here’s a way to fix it; stop allowing tons of influencers to monetize pictures and videos of them picking up antlers, don’t make hero’s out of people that show off keeper piles and then find a way to kill the market for selling them.

I love that idea about “residents” getting first cast each morn”. I think you are on to something…

Truth me told, I don’t kno how anybody could be successful hunting antlers unless they went to an area such as elk feed grounds. It just seems like it’d be so hard to find any antlers.

I’ve always spent a ton of time in the outdoors, and I’ve only stumbled into a handful of antlers of various types. And I’m talking 30 years of being outdoors.

I’ve found more bighorn skulls with curls than I have sheds if that says anything.

This actually makes a lot of sense. This Easter, I'm gonna tell all the neices, nephews and cousins that our kids get a three minute head start on the Easter egg hunt. After all, they don't live here. And they should be grateful for even being allowed to come here and look for eggs in the first place.

Man, WY has some balls, I’ll give em that much. I shed hunt in WY regularly, only one WMA opener. So much chaos. It’ll be interesting to see how much more antler poaching will happen if this bill passes.

More like $259 for non-resident permits and make it $7 for resident to help share the burden. Plus a conservation stamp, of course.

Maybe nonresidents can pay extra to get in on the first 3 days with residents.

Since non res won’t be out there on the opener, maybe that extra time will help them remember to donate to a corner crossing fund or something.

Nothing new South Dakota has a resident only pheasant season and North Dakota has a resident only waterfowl season. I guess if shed hunting is that big of deal to a person they can move to Wyoming.

Bill won't effect me cause I could care less about sheds the ones I find are on private anyways.

This is comical...When the wyoming wilderness law gets brought up wyoming residents like to point out you can do anything else you want there just not big game hunt i guess that wasnt restrictive enough so..... Quotas, restrictions, license fees are all fair game because the state owns the wildlife. This is an interesting continuation of that premise.

This tit for tat blaming nonresidents and finding ways to restrict them does not bode well for our future and it doesn't bring back the good Ole days.

I think shed hunting and pushing wintering animals is a tremendous concern. But restricting it in may for 3 days for nonresidents is not going to solve that issue.

The continual nonresident hate and restrictions stems from people not thinking the opportunity they currently have is as good as what they used to have so they want to find someone to blame or restrict to somehow get back to that place they remember...the good Ole days. The popularity of these activities (shed hunting, western big game etc) is just going up. There's no putting the genie back in the bottle and I'm not thinking this is the way. For context I've never picked up anything but a busted elk shed in wyoming on a deer hunt one year.

I wonder if the state has looked at how much financial lift non-residents antler hunters provide to business in the state of WY and how much giving residents a head start will diminish that? Non-resident hunters can provide incremental business to hotels, restaurants, gas stations, campgrounds, grocery stores, etc. which allows those sorts of businesses to indirectly benefit from the state's wildlife.

These sorts of ideas end up being a redistribution of sorts, taking money away from local business and non-resident antler hunters and giving it to resident antler hunters.

So now when I'm out hunting and come across a shed antler or antelope sheath I have to remember to purchase my licence ahead of time??? If they are going to do this then make it from may 1 to August 15th or something like that. That way when a 12 year old kid on his first hunt finds a shed we don't have to leave it behind because we don't have a license! Or pay 20 for the possibility of finding a shed for someone that's not out looking for them

I don’t think non residents are as big of a problem as the monetization of shed hunting and the greed that comes along with it. I’m all for everyone pitching in for conservation, but don’t make the 17 year old kid or the working class family thats always dreamed of coming out to Wyoming pay $100+ just to be able to keep that elk shed they found hiking.

Non residents get way too much blame for many things. Shed hunting has been my training for 3 decades, both equipment and fitness. The places I have roamed and see there is literally no one around. Glad I‘m old and won’t see some changes to come. Getting ready for 3 months of funGood luck to those who roam in the spring you can do it will little to no impact on game. All about location and common sense.
